That anomalous moon gravity was amazing, and reminded me of a weird fact about our moon. The Moon's gravity isn't consistent, it's uneven and changes from place to place because the rock doesn't get more dense as you go down in any consistent way. Apollo 11 discovered this fact, when it nearly killed Neil and Buzz during the decent.

After the crew of the Crusader Starlifter landed on Clio and went around exploring it, deeming it completely shit and leaving, they would eventually slowly descend into some form of void madness. Whether it was the endless void of space that drove them insane, or the noxious fumes of Clio, they would execute one of their crew for no real reason whatsoever. Soon after going to two more moons, Ita and Aberdeen, and having the worst time on both, they would split up, not wanting to remember the terrible, horrible trip they had. Over the years they would slowly die, one by one. Some to gangs whom they owed money to, some to the vandals, some to the endless void. But in truth, this was not how they *actually* died. Unbeknownst to each member, they were still on Clio, inhaling the noxious fumes of the moon. These fumes would cause them each to enter into a form of collective thinking, where they each had a collective "fever dream". They met the same fate the colonists who tried to live on Clio met; an endless fever dream of waking up on the ship, heading to Clio, inhaling the fumes and leaving, only to kill one another, or be killed by someone else. They eventually died in reality, due to not being able to eat or drink anything, and would become new "hives" for the noxious fungi, which would take more lives as the decades went on. Soon the Empire would catch wind of the moon, and glass it, not wanting to spread this fungi to any of the working colonies. The crew of the Crusader Starlifter would become dust on Clio, numerous, unidentifiable and flying through the endlessness of the sandy moon. No one would remember them either.

In case you haven't figured it out. The reason you were continually falling at Aberdeen and after is you somehow shut Coupled Mode off. In atmosphere this shuts off the thrusters that usually keep you in the air. In a Large ship when those thrusters go off you fall like a rock.

After watching this several times, I figured out why the ship was crashing so much. It’s not because of the gravity, it’s because they accidentally disabled coupled mode! Coupled mode will always use all a ship’s thrusters to keep a ship in the air. Without it in atmosphere you drop like a brick. (You can see that coupled mode is off at 10:12, it’s labeled as “CPLD” which is next to the landing gear icon and the ESP icon)
