Ruby de Búrca Connolly | A Concert Film

On the 7th of May, 2022, we lost a truly remarkable person. Ruby de Búrca Connolly was a bold, strong young woman, finding her way into a music career that held so much promise. Her absence is deafening to those of us who knew and loved her.
A visual artist with serious talent, a writer that arrested and compelled with her strikingly honest (and often hilarious) prose, a poignant lyricist and an exquisite singer and performer, always creating magic.
A year ago, we asked her if she would put a set together for one of our Department of Arts and Culture funded concerts. We wanted to support her to compose music because we had hoped to one day release an album of hers on the Black Gate label.
Thankfully, we managed to record this short concert which captures some of her talent, her sensitivity, and her indomitable charisma.
We are very grateful to have had this opportunity to record this concert by Ruby, to show it to the world, to have something to remember her by. As an artist, and as a formidable person, the world could have done with a lot more of her magic.
We are all poorer without you, Ruby.
