Say I was just thinking about that today! :D My theory is that the hat doesn't work on those who already have feelings for the wearer (or another person), since artificial love has no chance against real love. Which would've been a good way for Skull Boy to find out about Ruby's feelings: Skull Boy wears the hat while doing his scene with Ruby, but she isn't affected by the spell and doesn't recognize it until later: Ruby: Oh yeah, I remember that hat. It caused trouble at the Gloomsville Theater thanks to that love spell on it, so my parents decided to take it off their hands. Dad should've listened to mom about putting a lock on the trunk though.... Skull Boy: Love spell, so THAT'S why Iris and Misery are acting weird around me. *beat* Wait, how come the hat didn't make you act weird around me? Ruby: *blushes* Um...I...er...*eep* Scaredy Bat: Oh, Skull Boy, I forgot to warn you earlier: that hat has a love spell on it. Funny thing though, when I was reading the label a second time I found out something I missed the first time I read it: apparently the spell doesn't work on someone who already has feelings for the person wearing it. Skull Boy: Thanks Scaredy, but Ruby already told me about the love spell. *eyes widen* Ruby...do...do you have...feelings for me? Scaredy Bat: Say what? Ruby: *gulps* I.... *nods* Skull Boy: Ruby...I had no idea.... If I had known earlier I would've told you how I felt: I love you too. Ruby: *surprised, but happy* You...you do? Skull Boy: Of course, who wouldn't? You're the most amazing and beautiful girl ever. *Fit in any hugs, kisses, etc you want to imagine* Note: Ruby having parents is just a belief of mine. Kinda got this vibe that's she's just a responsible kid instead of a small-sized adult (plus Skull Boy is called Boy instead of Man, hinting that he's a kid too, so...). As for where the parents are...maybe they're traveling?
