I was so skeptical about this being another series like After or Beautiful Disaster, but despite this being a “cliché” story, it absolutely had me entranced. The way they look at each other is magnetic and it actually feels like they want to know each other (love a slow burn). Hopefully they renew it for a second season!

exactly, even though it was a little trashy and really unrealistic, the acting was genuinely amazing and it kept you hooked. Also, as an English person, it was pretty fascinating to see a German depiction of England lol. Really quaint and romanticised but sort of flattering, even if it didn't feel much like England at all. I liked that so much of it was filmed in Germany, it made it interesting. I wish they'd made the Oxford interview bit more accurate though. It's nothing like that in real life. Up until that point, everything seemed pretty well researched (apart from Ruby living in a house that looks really really expensive in real life lol). But the interviews were completely different to how they actually are.

I love that you can pinpoint the moment he truly fell in love with her on the field. I expected this series to be stupid tbh and omg it wasn’t at all. So real, I love how he looks at her, their story, slow burn, and the overall message that you have to follow your dreams even if the people around you don’t like it

Season one broke me! Poor James got a few short hours of happiness and then did not go in when he got to Ruby's home after he saw how happy she was. I wish I could read the books, I need to know how much of the self destruct button he presses.

I needed him to go inside and join them! It sounds weird, but something about the story reminds me of William and Kate. Although James' dad is actually way worse than Prince Charles lol. But still, I feel like Ruby's family could be for James what Kate's family is for William - the warm and welcoming and loving home that he never had.

I recently graduated from Oxford and it makes watching so many things so hard lol. That montage after they slept together made me want to cry hahah, just watching them together walk down a street I walked down a thousand times with a boy I loved desperately...the nostalgia is so intense I can't stand it. Two of those windows in that frame used to be MY windows. I used to run home over that bridge, tripping over the flagstones in the lamplight. We used to sing in the middle of that street. Even fucking Saltburn made me feel physical pain in my chest lol, like wtf is Jacob Elordi doing standing next to my favourite tree stump? The same tree stump I once slumped down on after staggering out of a party at midnight drunk on delirium and moonlight? I love every brick in that city so much, and every damn thing I decide to watch just rips my heart out by showing me my old home again and again and again. I love it and I hate it. They all literally make me cry. I can't stand the nostalgia. I miss it so much. I miss the people I loved, the person I was, the life I lived. And I'm literally perfectly content (mostly) with my life right now, like it's going good, but nothing can ever compare to the pure euphoria and melodrama and absolute distilled romance that was those four years in that place. It was like living in a permanent golden hour, just beautiful and tragic and fleeting - from the very first day we knew we were running out of time - it was a constant crashing countdown and we didn't sleep for fear of missing a moment. The worst part is that none of these movies or shows even exaggerate it. I didn't romanticise my life. It just literally was like that. Little old me, from the most grey and prosaic of industrial towns, thrown into the most bewildering colourful novel and then taken right out of it again. It's its own heartbreak.

Fuck, I sound like one of those 'peaked in college' people. Thing is, I am not scared of my future - I know there will be good things to come - but I'll never be 19 laughing on that bridge again and shows like this make me sad by reminding me of it. So let me go on my stupid self indulgent rants lol. Oxford has a way of twisting itself into your consciousness. Why do you think people like me eulogise it in every book and film and TV show we can get our hands on? Lol.

I wanted to watch it in the original version but I can't find a website where it works. Other than that I really like it, I thought it would be an other serie with a wattpad kind of story (I like that type of story but I wanted to try something different) but even if it's "cliché" in some ways I find it great ! the performances are also amazing !

my dad told the guy I loved to never see me again he moved to another school I kept texting him and he wouldn't tell me what happened or why he just left after a year he came to my house while my dad was on a trip with my mom and he told me what happened he stayed at my house till they came back and we talked about it when my dad seen him he got aggressive towards him and keeped telling him to leave or he would get a restraining order towards him then my dad beat him he beat the shit out of him I kicked him in the head and knocked him out my bf was on the ground he had blood all over him and his face was all swollen and he had a knife in his chest he almost died that day and my dad when he woke up I asked him why he told him to never see me again all he said was he doesn't deserve you that was the last time I seen him I went to go live with my bf I go see my mother every 2 weeks and my dads in jail for 10 years

Hi! So basically what happens is that after coming back from Oxford, James and Lydia get to know from their father that their mother has died of a stroke. Their cold-hearted father acts indifferent to the news he's delievered and starts talking on the phone about some business deal or whatever, ignoring his two kids who are devastated. James attacks him and lands a few punches, but is stopped by his driver. James walks over to Ruby's house to share his pain with her, but when he sees how happy she is with her family, he leaves. When Ruby looks out the window, there's no one there. The end. He knows that if he'll tell her what's happened, she'll not be able to enjoy the joyous time with her family. He doesn't want to share the burden of his grief. We're getting a s2, yay!
