Honesty what made me fall in love with them wasn't just the chemistry or the bowling scene - it was the scene with Ruby's dad. We finally got to see past her facet and see how she really felt about Otis. Ruby's dad talking about how he finally got to see the famous Otis, and how he was really happy Ruby has been happy ever since they started dating. Honestly this feels like Ruby had always been interested in Otis, but her defensive mechanism has always been pushing Otis away. I wished they had explored his part of their relationship instead of ending it soo soon. Like if you really think about it, this relationship mostly had a lot of chemistry but for the most part had a lot of element of toxicity. But with each passing episode, we saw the potential. She stopped caring what other people thought, she stopped trying to change Otis and she fully started accepting Otis. Episode 3 was soo hurtful for me, considering all the build up and ending on such a sad note. Like I get it, from Otis POV, I too would not have said I love you then. Cause he never got to see the real her till then -- She was always rude to his family and friends. Like the fact that he didn't address it properly and pretended like it didn't happen was probably what hurt her the most. But considering they are portraying high schoolers, I get it they didn't have the maturity to handle such things better. From a writer standpoint, seeing how people loved Ruby and Otis in season 2, they probably wanted to test the reaction in this season. But I don't think even the writers would have anticipated the reception of this relationship. Maybe the writers may have shoehorn themselves not giving the Maeve and Otis relationship earlier. Like it almost starting to feel like Otis and Maeve is a plot device for Ruby and Otis, where when he finally accepts that he rather keep Maeve as a friend and pillar of support. I feel like people may be underplaying Otis and Ruby's chemistry. Maybe they can flesh out Ruby and Otis better next season considering everyone seems want more of them. I feel like there is more potential with taking the Ruby route then with Maeve. Like you if go down Maeve route, you probably will only have interactions just involving both of them. But if you go via the Ruby route, you can explore more of Ruby's issue with pregnancy/commitment which has be constantly being brought up. Or their interaction/relationship with each other friends and family (Kind of what happened in season 3, episode 3). I cannot see that happening with Otis and Maeve (Doesn't sound like fun). What made Ruby and Otis work was that it was an expected surprised that seems to work. Maeve and Otis being the end game would be still be good, but I just don't feel the spark anymore especially after experiencing Otis and Ruby. Like Ruby and Otis just feels different, compared all the different combinations they have tried. Edited: Grammar and spelling

100% agree with everything you said here, I feel like if they go down the Otis and Maeve route they won’t leave themselves much room to expand on the situation with Otis and Ruby, but if they go down the route where Otis and Ruby get back together we’ve already established over 3 seasons that Otis and Maeve work really well as friends so they can still quite comfortably give them more interactions in season 4 provided Maeve is actually back from America by then which seems unlikely seeing as the seasons don’t take place that far apart. I think the fact that Ruby being uncomfortable about the thought of pregnancy and commitment constantly being bought up could possibly even be the writers hinting at how Otis and Ruby could end up talking again, because it wasn’t just her being uncomfortable about it, there was stuff like her conversation with Adam on their double date about the Kardashians and surrogates or whatever it was, I automatically tune out when I hear the word kardashian so idk the full convo. It wouldn’t be the first time the writers have done something like that either. In the first episode when Otis and Adam are studying together Adam finds that wooden dick on the wall and starts messing around with it, look where he is now, openly gay and has just been in a relationship with another guy. When Otis went into the shop where Ola worked dressed as Hedwig she commented on his makeup and said Hedwig was one of her favourite cosplay characters, now look where she is, in a relationship with Lily literally having sex while cosplaying as aliens. And that was literally one scene, I counted at least 7 scenes with Ruby that were related to pregnancy in some way. Like you said as well I think Ruby could even have had feelings for Otis as far back as season 2 episode 7 and possibly even before then. She said she “makes out with nerdy boys when she’s sad” but if that were true surely you’d hear a lot more nerdy boys bragging that they slept with the most popular girl in school. So it’s entirely plausible at least to me that she had sex with him because she already had feelings for him

@@MuMasoo unfortunately I think I heard somewhere that Laurie Nunn said in an interview that she doesn’t cave to pressure from people wanting to see a certain storyline, but at the same time there were a lot of hints dropped that this is her plan anyway like you said about her being pregnant. I saw someone come up with a way the whole pregnancy thing could work, Otis will find out she is pregnant and because he never really had a dad growing up he will feel almost a responsibility to be the dad he never had. And because Maeve’s dad abandoned her too she will have a similar understanding so she’ll support him to go back to Ruby to raise their child together. I think that would be a really sweet way to provide closure for both relationships without the fans of whichever ship doesn’t end up together being pissed at the writers. I hope it doesn’t just happen suddenly tho, I think if that was to happen he would need to find out in like episode 2 or 3 so the season can sort of be about him deciding between the girl he’s loved for a long time, or doing what is best for his kid. And I think Otis could eventually fall in love with Ruby, he was definitely starting to towards the end of episode 3 even telling Ola that their relationship might be actually getting serious, and she clearly still loves him too.

@@decone4839 tbh this isn’t one of my better ideas, I think if they were to get back together it would have to be the characters choice, because otherwise all the Motis shippers would be able to claim that the writers forced Otis and Ruby by giving Otis basically no choice but to leave Maeve. I think the most realistic way it could work is if Otis and Maeve realise naturally over the course of season 4 that they just aren’t right for each other in a romantic way and are better off as friends instead, and then the rest of the season can focus on them realising that they still have feelings for Ruby and Isaac respectively. That way it would feel a lot more natural than the pregnancy thing and it would mean they couldn’t claim it was forced, the number one argument they use is that Otis and Maeve are better because Otis loves her and not Ruby, if it happened the way I’ve suggested that argument would become completely invalid. Even though I do think Otis did actually love Ruby but couldn’t see it because he was also in love with Maeve, notice how he’s constantly telling Maeve about Ruby when she didn’t even ask “Ruby picked this out for me” “oh and me and Ruby aren’t casual anymore, we’re official”. Exactly the same way Ruby’s dad said she talked about Otis “always going on about you, Otis this and Otis that”. And who knows? If that does happen then once they get back together she could reveal that she’s pregnant and then idk it could cut to 5 years later of something for the final scene, with Otis, Ruby and their child living together idk just something so we know Maeve doesn’t just barge her way back into his life 2 days later and ruin Otis and Ruby’s relationship

I saw a comment say that Ruby was the right fit for Otis because with her he acts rationally, he was emotionally responsible, caring, kind and was having fun with her. With Maeve, he always acts impulsively, his feelings always get overwhelming and he ends up either hurting her or hurting himself (emotionally). Ruby is the right fit for him, they both get the best out if the other, unlike him and Maeve, who always seem the get the worse out of each other.

@Shirin Niazi In English, there is only one word for love. We get a lot of our words from other languages and in languages like Greek, there are 8 different words for love. There is sexual love, Deep friendship, playful love, sacrificial love, love of self and familial love. It's really interesting how people perceive love. Personally, IMO, I believe love isn't a feeling, but an what you do in spite of what you feel like an act of love is to do what is best for your child even if you take the fall for it.

Think Otis should've gave a better answer cause if he did he'd still be with Ruby. He should've told her that he has just started to get to know the real Ruby and wants to get to know her more before saying something so meaningful. In a relationships the word of love you is a big thing technically because it shows a path towards commitment and that the two have grown to love each other through their relationship. Ruby knew more of Otis than Otis did of the Ruby behind all the glammar and etc. So she can't necessarily be angry at him for not following in love with her just yet. Also notice that a lot of people didn't know Ruby stopping Mrs. Haddon from unplugging the video in S3 E7. No one asked her to go up there to stop her. Feel like she saw Mrs. Haddon going up there and knew Otis was up there so she went to help him.

Maybe it’s because from the very beginning Maeve and Otis were made out to be soulmates/endgame but sadly as a viewer I just don’t feel the romantic chemistry between the two characters. You know these unexpected relationship s that are introduced in shows are for the charcter development and exploring more story about backgrounds of character involved in them. They are generally just supposed to be one season thing but sometimes these unanticipated couples bring so much more to the viewers and fans. Their oddly but so fitting chemistry just makes all the viewers to want more of them which has already in several series. Even in Friends Chandler and Monica were just supposed to be one night fling but considering how much love they got from fans they had to bring more of them together which resulted in giving us best couple in that series and probly one of the best couples in all tv series. The situation for Ruby and Otis also something similar although characters completed different from each other but due to that difference how they bring more out of each other is what fans loved. The fact that Ruby who we all thought is just mean girl entire time, started opening upto Otis gradually even accepting for how he is and introducing him to her father just adds so much more to their already great on screen chemistry. On comparison to Maeve and Otis story which is only being kind of dragged up until now, Ruby and Otis have more spark in them atleast for me. Ngl i wanted Maeve and Otis as endgame until i saw Ruby and Otis together. Even if writers go with Maeve and Otis story, i think for more than half of fans Ruby and Otis will always be the endgame. As every other Rotis shipers i just hope that writer gives these two another chance. 🥺

You should've included the scene where Ruby sprays down Hope.....while Otis and Eric just stand there. But this video proves it. ROTIS really made an impact this season. Otis, for a pretty nice guy that cares about people, truly hurt this girl. He owns it, at least. But folks....Maeve left the actual country! Ruby can win him. And Mimi is a genuinely good actress..to play Ruby's edge...AND vulnerability so well.

@@andreagailo3218 I don’t think it’s that he wasn’t ready to tell her he loved her, I think he wanted to, but because he still loved Maeve he was worried that he would tell Ruby he loved her and then he would go back to Maeve and hurt Ruby even more, he needed to sort out his feelings for Maeve before he could bring himself to tell Ruby that he loved her

I honestly wasn’t expecting this pair to happen but it did and I took a liking to it but something always felt off and it was the phone call scene that’s when it really became clear that one had true feeling for the other whereas the others feelings were basically mixed into a strainer…. Ola’s dad was right in the sense that Otis did the right thing by letting Ruby go since he couldn’t reciprocate the same feelings rather than string Ruby along

The thing about Ruby and Otis is that at first, they look like a clearly toxic relationship - she was too controlling, she refused to be seen in public with him, etc. But then that flipped itself on the head fairly quickly. It didn't take very long for Otis to realize, "wait, I'm not being respected in this relationship, and that's something I deserve", and it didn't take very much pressure for Ruby to give in. The relationship seemed toxic at first because they were trying to fit into roles that they (by which I mean just Ruby) had envisioned for them, but the moment that Otis decided that wasn't good for him, it fell away, because when you took away the layer of superficial attraction, it turned out that there wasn't nothing underneath (like we might have expected), but actually something genuine.

I've seen lots of people in different videos wanting ruby to be pregnant for the next season but i really hope she isn't. We've had a few pregnancy stories (Maeve and Jean, even Ruby had a scare) already that it would feel repetitive and i wouldn't want the baby to be a plot device to get rotis to happen. I also think since Mimi Keene has played a pregnant teen before it would suck for her to do it again for another show. Just my two cents

i think Ruby is too responsible for that. You saw exactly how she handled the pregnancy scare so I would find it so odd if she were to become pregnant as it doesn't match her character really.

Fr and apart from that, it would feel really forced to me. Otis getting back with her just because of the baby it's not it and it wouldn't fit with the characters (which more likely would like to make an abortion or Ruby not getting it bc she's always very careful with that). The best is maybe showing how his relationship with Maeve is going downhill because of the long distance relationship and Otis still having some feelings for Ruby, like remembering moments with her when he sees her at school. Idk, it can be anything else but NOT them making her pregnant.

I am all for ruby and otis, at first I was rooting for maeve and otis to get together but there is just something about Rotis that just makes me wanna smile whenever I see those two being just you know being a couple, they are funny together, they bring out the best out of each other and ruby really developed a lot this season( plus their hookup scenes are quite steamy 😉😉😏😏😏😂😂😂😂). It will be just sad to see that that the two don't get together in season 4 at least even if it's to fully understand what went wrong and get full closure on their relationship in season three (which I don't want but at least tho) Maeve and Otis are great I mean could have been if the show didn't play around their will they, won't they relationship too long and it will kind of predictable if they decide to go the rom-com route and make Motis Endgame but they did and the same time gave us something that most people would probably agree was slightly better, so I think they should really look into that issue in season 4 cus as much I'll be rooting for Ruby next season, I can't imagine her with someone else other than otis(although she could be alone and go through a great deal of character development soooooh P.S anyone who reads this line understands what I am saying and I am not trying to tie her character growth down to a man( and I love otissssssss, despite his faults he is my man and Eric representing all the nigerians out there ( I am nigerian ) even though his excuse to break with Adam was pretty lame though.

The thing is that they dragged Otis Maeve story so much that the chemistry people wanted to see between them was then found in Otis and Ruby. If Otis Maeve even for a brief period were shown together earlier, maybe this pairing wouldn't have become such a huge hit.

Ruby is just right for Otis, it feels right and comfortable, with Maeve yes there is chemistry, but it’s fading after all the things in between, there’s less of needing. For Ruby, it’s hard for her to find another person like Otis, Otis is unique in her life. For Otis, Ruby is different, different and unique as well. But for Maeve, there’s been Isaac, a guy who can possibly replace Otis, Isaac been thru things similar to Maeve and a experience otis can never relate, the only reason otis stand out is the timing, if Maeve met Isaac before Otis, then there none rest of the story. Ruby and Otis feels right. I love ruby’s character, beautiful and fragile. Building her defense mechanism around her, it’s interesting and sweet to see her open up to someone and that someone is know to not hurt her. It’s just sweet and beautiful love.
