4:10 "Cyclists need to be reminded to be observant and check before moving across traffic" and motorists need to be reminded not to overtake at junctions, and give cyclists 1.5 m space. It was clear that the driver had no intention of giving that required distance.
@martinhutchinson92652 жыл бұрын
Cyclist was stationary with a foot on the kerb until the last second when he set of into the lane, so cammer didn't have much option but to overtake opposite the junction. He was probably giving him about a metre - right wheel was on the hatchings, but should probably treat him like a pedestrian stood in the road and give him more.

Well said 👏 so many motorists believe they have a right to overtake cyclists and just expect them to never want to turn right. In all fairness the child shouldn't be pushing off on the road and should have indicated he was turning right, but even if he had, the cammer was not giving the appropriate space, even if he were in the right, hazard spacing goes a long way.

I'm from Portsmouth and I recognise that junction. It's halfway down Western Road in the Northwest corner, and it's notorious for drivers doing that. Why did the tow truck brake afrer pulling out? There was no need as the road ahead was clear.
@davidwyllie85392 жыл бұрын
The road ahead is clear but it looks like the car that pulled out before the tow truck did slows down when in front so once the truck joins the main road it has no choice but to brake. It's chancy of the tow truck to pull out, yes, but I personally think the cammer should be slowing down as soon as the first car goes to pull out. It looks like a 40mph road with a bend before you get to the junction. To me, that means the cammer should be approaching the situation at 30-35mph. Reacting well, he should be able to drop 10-15mph at least because you can see the truck is going to follow the car. Overall I'd say it's poor judgement all round.
@fuzzluvver692 жыл бұрын
@@davidwyllie8539 No. The tow truck tailgated too close to the car in front in their desperate attempt to get in front, when the closing speed of the HGV was already too high. They are to blame, pure and simple.
@davidwyllie85392 жыл бұрын
@@fuzzluvver69 I agree, the tow truck does indeed tailgate the car in front. However, just before the crash you can see the tow truck's brake lights come on. You don't slam the brakes on if you've just taken the risk to force your way into the flow of traffic, you match it... unless the vehicle in front of you prevents this. If you look up the road after the crash, you can see the car in front of the tow truck drive off into the distance. So, the truck didn't hit the car in front, but the potential answer to Heene's question, "Why did the truck brake after pulling out?" still remains that the car in front was moving too slow once it had pulled out. Not enough power maybe, or perhaps it was brake checking the truck as it followed - who knows? This then caused the tow truck to brake which caused the cammer to crash into the truck. Logically, it's a chain reaction, and to me, the blame can be shared. Arguably, the car should wait too, as it causes as much trouble as the tow truck does. The truck shouldn't have followed the car, but if we pretend the truck wasn't there for a second, the cammer still should've already been reducing his speed as soon as the car moved out because there's every chance he might have run into the back of the car instead, given the speed he's doing, as it's only a few extra metres difference.
@Robbie321942 жыл бұрын
07:52 I think the cammer had more than enough time to adjust his speed there. You can see the recovery truck pull out so you know you will have to slow down but it looks as if the cammer stays at the same speed. He definitely shouldn't have pulled out but feel like it could have been avoided by the cammer slowing down. I disagree with him 'not really having an opportunity'?

"the cammer prevented the car in lane 1 from moving across to make way for the merging cars." so what? What's the problem with that? It's the responsibility of those who are merging to insert themselves into the traffic, it is NOT the duty of the cars already on the main road to make room for merging cars and certainly not give way! We need to stop considering moving across lanes for merging traffic as something good because it has made people lazy and many of them now consider that you HAVE to move over for them! #11 should have held back and gone once the oncoming lane cleared, not even close to 1.5m distance to the cyclist, deluded driver

There’s no real deterrent for bad driving. Even with the exponential increase in dash cams, people still drive like loons. That last clip was a clear example of inconsiderate and self important behaviour that causes a huge knock on effect in the premiums we all pay. They should loose their license for a month or more and perhaps that would make them think more carefully. It is almost unimaginable that the rescue truck’s driver would pull such a stunt, after all the incidents he will have witnessed during the course of his job.

5:27 how difficult is it to let drivers merge in from the slip lane? Do some people think that letting somebody in means that they have a small peepee or something?
@v52gc2 жыл бұрын
#10 03:40, not a motorway and no restrictions so, albeit not the best choice, they can stop there if they want. Vehicle behind following too closely otherwise and being too lax… Expect the unexpected whether it’s allowed or not.

If people could just learn to make some sort of gesture of apology when they fuck up, there'd be a lot less road rage. Mistakes happen, but to try and pretend you're in the right when you're not is just pointless. Own up, and let everyone get on with their day, including you.

6:00 More and more British behave like that, he should speed up his car moving forward rather than slowing down, having signal doesn't mean you have the absolute right to cut lane

Fucking hate when people join and move two lanes instantly, amongst other vehicles. Don't!! You join the first lane, you make your presence known and THEN move to the middle - cautiously.
@Jisei132 жыл бұрын
The one at 4:10 is a car overtaking so the bike isn't moving into traffic. Obviously cyclists need to be careful but the fault is entirely with the car imagine the cyclist was any other road user the car would be at fault if he overtook someone turning even if they didn't look or signal.

#18 05:25 another cammer who’ll have “I had priority” written on their grave… yes the van was an idiot, but a bit of anticipation would have solved that!

Apart from the left/right thing (as a Yank) it is the many turning circles in the UK that scare me the most. Especially since many of them do not seem to be clearly marked. So, I take buses, and trains, and the Tube when I am there, but, I cannot drive there. Yet.

When will people realise that if there is no gap on to road from a slip road, the end of the slip becomes a defacto give way, you have no right to force your way on to the carriageway or expectation of vehicles already on to make way to allow you on!!

Clip 18, I know the junction well, all the times I've passed pretty much I've seen something similar happen thankfully in my case I could see it going to happen and the middle lane was empty so I could move over but it happens so often here Manchester City Council should alter it so it's only a single lane coming up. Either that or people should learn to drive 🤣
