Last and certainly not least in this series . The one I consider to be the best out of the box option of these 3 Rucks.

That’s actually a copy. The original ones have buckles that only have two prongs, that’s so you can roll the webbing round between the two prongs to give fine tuning to the straps when you fasten them, plus, it would have a military label inside.

I have done a 4-day camp with my German Ruck and a bottle kit. The space under the flap is great in colder weather when you need to pack some of your clothes to stay cool while hiking. I also got the sleeping pad made for this ruck. Not a great pad to use alone (thin but firm). It works fine over a leaf bed or with another mattress. I use a Klymit Inertia X-Frame mattress that packs very small and weighs very little. The German pad also makes a great camp seat and kneeling pad. You can even carry water in it! Another cool feature of the German ruck is that you can roll the straps up inside the male part of the buckle to adjust it. This works for the sidecpouches as well as the main flap. The webbing with the holes located below the flap can be used for direct attachment of items with paracord. Instead of being under the pack, the item sits directly over that webbing. Handy to help keep the pack upright when you set it on the ground. Next time we camp, Chad, I'll show you how I do that without D-rings or carabiners. Great video of a great ruck.

Nice Video, I enjoyed it. One thing, does that pack have anything to do with the MFH German mountain rucksack? They look almost the same to me.

They're made by a couple different manufacturers to German Army Specs. I purchased mine 20 years ago, brand new unissued, mfg by "Schulz - Brake" date 10/01. MFH is an authorized BW manufacturer, as well as Brandit. MilTec makes one. Idk if it's BW approved. I'm very very happy with mine. It think I paid $15. A UK store, Military 1st sells a MFH Cordura (Flectarn only) mountain rucksack. It's pricey. I'm probably going to get one. As far as the internal pocket, I cut & trimmed a 3/8" sleeping pad for comfort, "frame", and protection from carried objects poking through. For canteens, I use US Govt Issue Aviators 1 pint canteen flask which fits in the side pockets perfectly. The waist belt does take the weight off the shoulders. These rucks are selling for $50-75 on eBay and Amazon

There are many replicas of the military rucksack. One of these manufacturers is MilTec. They are also OK but not nearly as good as the originals. You are more likely to find original BW rucksacks on E-Bay. There often only used. Sometimes also as new, but then they are expensive. Recognizable by a very large patch of the manufacturer. Their durability is second to none. In my opinion. I have tested originals and replicas.
