I like this arrangement. I'm a huge P-Tree/SW fan and though I have never been a fan of Dream Theaters songs (not their unquestionable ability as musicians), I went to their concert last week in FL and was most impressed with Rudess' playing. He has such a cool and calculated demeanor on stage and is a true pro. Nice to see this type of collaboration between an amazing songwriter and an amazing pianist.

So agree!! Somehow mix Steven Wilson , Mikael Akerfeldt , Jordan Rudess , Geddy Lee (Rush) , Mike Portnoy..think of the drummer possibilities alone..Portnoy , Peart , Minnemann , Harrison!!...Bass choices of Colin Edwin , Nick Beggs , John Myung!!!...guitars of John Wesley , John Petrucci , Alex Lifeson , Guthrie Govan ....between these 4 bands the level of talent is tremendous ..the more they collaborate the better!

This is sheer epicness. God I love to see these two guys on stage performing a stream of art. And to anyone that thinks Rudess 'overdoes' it should educate themselfs a bit better. Rudess comes from a classical background and has composers like Chopin in his fingers, listen to some of his work and then tell me 'Chopin overdid it'

This is the first time i am listening to something called "Even Less" and i am in love with the rendition...Jordan is nothing less than Magic and With Steve, its AMAZING !! Now i may or may not like the original song bcoz i like this a lot and i have listened to this first,so it all boils down to how you accept a rendition of a piece coz when u r so into that rendition, you perhaps may never want to change the way it is being played. It is great music in the end and that's all matters.

and this is Jordan Rudess's performance he just had Steven up to do this song so he can do it however he wants regardless of tast its up to what Jordan wants to do. And I mean there is no educating to be done, Rudess plays like Jordan Rudess that is all. And Rudess can play simpler things so dont make excuses for him, he didnt want to play simpler things.

@ustolemybeer13 жыл бұрын
@topkho When you can play like that, changing the natural song to give it your own unique feeling comes naturally. All he's doing is making it sound even better than it already did, a lot of thought goes into the scale patterns used for fast playing, no matter if you play guitar, bass, piano, or anything else.
@kitthehacker13 жыл бұрын
@topkho The reason Jordan does it is because he can. And he can do it in a way that projects intense feeling. Jordan puts everything of himself into every note he plays and that is so obvious. That is why he is tied (with Steven Wilson no less!) as my favourite musician of all time.
