I had the good fortune to meeting Mr. Nureyev in Toronto where he was staging his phenomenal Sleeping Beauty ballet and starring in it, as well. And to this day, his dancing partner, prima ballerina Veronica Tennant, is an acquaintance of mine.

Nathalia Bessermertnova Bolchoi was the first in the world era 70-80 , j saw her in live at Parlais des Congrès-Paris , don't forget Galina Mezenzeva Kirov 60-70 -the fist Giselle ( DVD woth L Lavrosky ) , j saw also in live Bessmertnova at Paris Opera ( 1977 - ) Romeo-Juliette coreo GRigorovitch with Alexander Bogatyriev unforgettable ; you are young Osipova is not prima -ballerina XXIEM Century , also Noella Pontois Paris-opera 1970-80 , a few videos on Y T pity . also Zakharova, no osipova is not a prima ballerine assoluta there is also Yvette Chauvire as Giselle ( Paris Opera 1972 ) coreo A Alonso etc etc . ...

Thank you for your comment! 🙏 With the time and the new century there are new phenomenal dancers here, and Ossipova is the one of them! But I do agree with you that the Bessmertnova was the first one, it was more like 60-70 era! And we need to remember Alicia Alonso one of the best ballerina from Cuba. I saw her perform in 1980 when she was 62 yeas old, blind and still beautiful woman and a dancer! Incredible memories!

@@retrotheatretv We are in the 21st Century ; about era 60-80 the first Stars in the world were : Bessmertnova ( Bolchoi ) Mezentzeva ( Kirov ) Pontois ( Paris-Opera ) : it's not me who says it but coreographer of that era . If j saw them several times at Paris j saw Galina Mezentzeva as Giselle at Marseille-Opera when Roland Petit was Principal ; many great dancers were at Marseille in Guest by Roland Petit : Mezentzeva - Komleva -Maina Gielguld - Carla Fracci ( with Deny Ganio Giselle ) Margot Fonteyn ( 1970 ) R Noureev -Peter Schauffus etc . . to day dancers are mainly demonstrative less lyric less musicality than an old era the Top pf classical dance for me ; Ossipova New generation is an other thing .

I saw Nureyev perform this. The third act " white ballet" isn't the same at all. and I don't recognize the music at all

@@pavlaki1Exactly! None of this is Minkus’s orchestration either! Many of the musical lines are also altered to “improve” upon the original. This attitude is a leftover of the Soviet mentality which I find quite sad!

This is all weird: in the introduction, there is not ballet at all: it looks like a silent movie. And then, it is impossible to follow any plot that shows up in the Don Quixote. And he had one thousand adventures, they could have chosen one. Plus there are details, e.g. in the first act, when the dancers are pretending to play an acoustic guitar, there is no guitar in the music at all. This is not it, in my opinion.

Discúlpeme si difiero de su opinión. Supongo que vd. ha leído El Quijote completo, pero completo!. Por ello encontrará en el libro segundo, un pequeño argumento en el que se basa la “historia” de este ballet, y si lee como se coreografió y cuando; cuantas variaciones ha tenido esta coreografía a través de los años, tendrá una visión amplia al respecto.
