This was recorded in the late 70's / early 80's when race relations in the UK were at an all time low. That was countered by the arrival of two-tone bands like the Specials, that were formed by both black and white musicians. In the middle of the 3 singers is Terry Hall, who lad a long and varied career in the industry, only to sadly pass away just before christmas 22 aged 63.

RIP to Terry Hall. This was the music of my youth. BTW, the original was recorded by Dandy Livingston in Jamaica, and Rico Rodrigues (the trombone) played on the original.

@sagewayne28 Жыл бұрын
Rudy isn't a specific person, as in a person's name. It's slang, short for "Rude Bwoy," as in bad man, gun man, thug, gangster. So, basically the song is "A message to (all gang bangers)." It's also a cover of a 1967 Ska song. And of course Ska was created and developed in Jamaica. The trumbonist on this song featured in the video is legendary, Jamaican Ska trombonist Rico Rodriguez who learned to play the trombone when he was at The Alpha Boys School in Downtown Kingston.
