You know I didn’t understand this song when I first heard it at 16. Now that I’m 22 and finishing up undergrad, all I can do is get it. That’s what makes good music so worthwhile. It seems that not everyone is trying to understand the song, but I've being trying since it first came out. Maybe I'm looking to deep into it but I feel he's talking about a man with mommy issues. He keeps trying to please everyone, woman in particular because his relationship with his mother is really close. She tells him to be chill, he chills way to much to the point of being indifferent and then, the women, who he chose because of the character ressambles with his mother (the way she treats him, by physically hurting him and manipulating him), she tells him to feel and to be more passionate, but all his life his being told not to be that enthusiastic. So he keeps getting on and off in relationships, being dragged to situations he might not be ok with but he's so eager to please, he just nods ok. He finally realizes that his motherly issues (hence the furries, relates to childhood and traumas) are the ones not letting him grow and mature. Reasons why he keeps making the same mistakes over and over again. He grows older, he knows what he's done wrong his whole life, he might think it's too late, and even though he knows he wont change it. Don't know, you coulg also tell what do you think
