As a young teenager, the name Rudy Currence was mentioned in passing on a regular basis in my city, especially in church. I had never seen him or heard this beautiful voice that everyone spoke of. Then this one amazing revival evening at Fundamental Baptist Church, a little choir steps up to do their thing. I was a young teen myself, so of course I wasn’t really interested in anything but the new female faces such an event brought. Little Rudy steps up to the mic and for the first time in my life, I didn’t hear anything but the voice. His vocals pierced my spirit and had me sitting on the edge of my seat wanting that song to last forever.
