This Is The Last Thing We Expected In The Desert!

We have just over a week to finish building this stock 1998 Jeep Cherokee into a Ultra4 Race car to compete in King of The Hammers. Even though we've moved out to the desert to build it, somehow we keep getting distracted. And this week it snowed on the lakebed, which is super rare! So of course we had to go play in the snow. As for progress on the Jeep, today we got the front axle welded, the batteries mounted, gussets welded to the roll cage, and sliders put on.

In the NW we snow wheel. Deeper the better. Gives my joy to see Southern ish wheelers giddy and terrified over a few inches. Something about snow makes me happy.

I think it's more about the type of mud in that region, and in Utah, that a little thawing snow makes. It's a particular kind of slippery.

The thing about snow is the conditions are never the same. Sometimes you can push 2 feet, next time stuck in 6 inches and next on top of 3 feet. Must be comfortable with cliffs, steep hills and 4 wheel drifting.

Still trying to figure out if it’s good or bad that Janelle was absent for the snow shenanigans, definitely a pretty scary descent. Y’all are doing such a great job of living in the moment, I am always amazed at how capable the Rudicon is and what a great adaptive driver Rudy is. Top tier episode, I wasn’t sure about the “build in the desert” concept , but I’m starting to get it.
