I recently caught a Ruffe on my local canal whilst Perch fishing. I didn't even know it was a Ruffe because I had previously never heard of this species. It was only when I got home and did a little internet search of the species and compared it to the picture I had taken that I discovered it was a Ruffe. I think it would be incredibly difficult to target Ruffe individually because of the sheer number of perch in the same waters and the similarity in their diet.

+Peter Edwards It's not as easy to eliminate other species as it is when targeting some other fish. But you can still set your stall out for them, just that you will pick up other fish along the way, as I've written in the blogs I've done.

I never relised any one would delibratly fish for Ruffe,as there usualy regarded as a nuisance, being a speices than rarely give any detection that they`ve swallowed your bait/hook, and only finding that you have caught one as you reel in followed by surgery to remove hook(best left alone if swallowed),but as you found out when you target them their not playing ball.Still it takes all sorts.Regards.

+colin cowell In my book there's no such thing as a nuisance fish. If you fish with the right approach you will detect ruffe bites. You target them first and foremost in the venue where you know they are and then from there you fine tune as much as possible.
