I read all the comments and nobody seems to say what this song is about. Hallelujah means praise to God. The baffled king who wrote this song was King David of Israel. His biggest sin was watching Bathshma bathe, and then taking advantage of her and making sure her husband would be killed in battle to cover up the child that was in her stomach from him. It moves on to Sampson, who was deceived and constrained by a woman who choked his throat and cut his hair and took his power. God bless anybody who understands and loves the meaning of this song. I have listened to many versions of this song, including some amazing voices and Rufus' version and tone is exactly right for the song. I agree with you all, Rufus is definitively the best.

Rufus has been my favorite musician since 2015 or 2016. Of course I prefer his version of Hallelujah over all others.
