@@winco68 I am pretty sure I didn’t say ALL South Africans. And do you really believe that none of the Springboks throughout history was from Dutch descent?

@@Attie_36 I’m pretty sure many probably a majority even were of Dutch descent but there’s been a lot of mixing since the 18th century. Many Afrikaners have German, French even British blood flowing through their veins and Afrikaners have embraced in more recent times peoples from Portugal and even Lebanon for example. The connection with the Netherlands is now weakened and in fact some Afrikaners take offence at being called a ‘Dutchman’ especially if it’s a Rooinek saying it! 🤣

What you on about 😭 I am telling you right now most South African names are Dutch, the British just brought the game to South Africa and it became popular there but most of the surnames are Dutch

@@jakeclough8090 Kolisi, Mapimpi, Mbonambi, Nyakane, Dweba, Nche and Am are South African names and they’re neither Dutch or English. The sport encompasses the entire nation now Afrikaners of Dutch descent are merely a part of it.

@@winco68 yeah thanks for pointing out the obvious mate. He said the white South African surnames are British and I meant the white surnames are Dutch obviously not lots of the black surnames, and yeah obviously the sport is for the whole country now

@@jakeclough8090 Fair does I didn’t translate or read the original comment. Having said that you’ll be surprised at how many white surnames in SA have absolutely no connection to the Netherlands. British, French, German and Portuguese influence is significant.
