I use Butler Steel lips and Ruger BX-25's, both work really good. Haven't had a problem with either after thousands of rounds through all of them.

I just tried out my 25 round steel lips mag yesterday with federal ammo. It had a bit of a loose fit to it, but it didn't hang up or jam once....tons of fun!

@PeteFromMaine I just picked up the Ruger BX-25 for mine. Feels like a really well made product. It can be taken apart as well and cleaned. Haven't gotten a chance to shoot it yet as I just bought it yesterday but I am very much looking forward to it. I've had feed problems with the Buttler Creek Hotlips. Might have been the shitty ammo I was using. But we'll see. Again very much looking forward to trying the BX-25.

I have been useing the same 7 Ram-Line double stack 30 round magazines for 20 years now. (CCI Mini-Mags only) I have been through 8 Ram-Line 50 rounders. They do not last long. If I ever need new mags, I will go with the Ruger BX-25. (or the Tactical Inc.)

I just bought one which was manufactured in 1966 (in excellent shape!) but it came w/o the mag. I can't find any info on what the early guns came with. I know it was the 10 round rotary but wouldn't they have been made of metal back then? I haven't called ruger yet that's probably the only way to find out. Not likely I could find one though. Excellent video you made here.

I've got a 50 round double stacked ram-line that was imported from Australia. :D It is Hot Lips and has been dropped before so currently it's being held together with some super glue. Works great as long as you don't drop it again.... lol

They suck unless you modify them. They are temperamental in some rifles and some they work fine in. They didn't work in my rifle. Jammed all the time. I polished the underside where the bullets feed, massaged the area where the feels ramp area with a small rat tail file and polished it with a Dremel/ Mother's chrome polish. Pit kidd extractor and heavy spring plunger spring. Drilled and tapped that little bump lock tited some tiny Allen screws in it. Made sure they didn't protrude into the mag. Then I ground the heads down so the magazines fit tite. And I shimmied the internal mag spring with a cut down 22LR shell. After all that they work great.

Nice review. Just wondering though, have you had problems with the adjustment screws eating into the underside of the receiver? I was about to purchase these mags from TI and there was one such comment from a customer, although others seem happy.

Ruger now makes a 25 round mag steel lip, as reliable as their 10 round rotary, bx-25, I have two of them and they have never jammed even with cheap federal ammo....

how do you load the hot/steel lip ones with 25 any tool to push the last 5-10 rds in there? it gets harder for.me to load after like 15 rds.

double stack mag isn;'t super reliable. now the TI mag on the other hand, buy it. They make a plastic one with metal feed lips (that i have in the video), but they have more expensive ones that have metal bodies if you want to go that way. i just really like the ability to take it apart and clean it down the road, if it ever needs it. it seems like a durable product, not a consumable like the other 25 rounders.

my question would be are the 10 round mags easy to get into the gun? Ive seen the high capacity mags and they take anywhere from 2 to 5 minutes to get one in. During which time the bad guy could walk up on you (stop and have a cigarette on the way) from a quarter mile away and club you to death with a blunt metal object. While you are trying to get the mag in. Lol. Just sayin.

My BX-25 magazines are a piece of junk, they nose dive the ammo. Keeping my fingers cross on the Butler Creek. I had an old Eagle 25 round magazine that literally wore out after thousands of rounds over several years. Thanks for info on other magazines.

i personally know RamLine is garbage. All of mine have ended up in the trash can due to failure. I did learn that in order to make them work at all, they must be kept incredibly clean, and also powdered carbon helps the internals move correctly but compared to others their tolerance is "intolerable." The problem with keeping them clean is that they don't come apart. do not buy "JamLine" mags for your 1022.

@AngryGunNerd Ruger mags can't come to Canada, they messed up on marketing their product here. Ruger labelled them as being handgun compatible and Canadian law has a technicality on that. If Ruger can get the BX 25 into Canada we are gonna be happy up here. You like the butler creek mags, the majority of people I talk to hate them....they constantly jam up. How many times have the butler creeks jammed up on you?

Smitwrap wrap some electrical tape around the top of the mag under where the nudge is that the clip holds it in the gun. And it will work for a while. It mis feed because the angle of the clip is out of line due to wear on the clip

Yeah agreed on BX-25s being the obvious choice....but keep in mind he made this back in 2011.....my personal experience is the ONE ramline I had was good.....but alot of people say jamomatic online.....butler creek plastic lips suck.....steel lips good.....and BX25s flawless. I still enjoyed the video....some good info.

@@Chatekitey72 Yeah I have never tested the HC3Rs.....below is a search for anyone interested in a good review of them. Honestly looks kind of gimmicky.....and I'd rather just have BX25s ready to go.....but being able to CARRY 45 rounds (not loaded tho) is pretty cool in itself. I may have to test them out on my channel.....I"ve looked at them before.....but might be worth a closer look. Review: HC3R Magazine for RUGER 10/22
