308 is a stellar round. Great review and comparison on the ammo.

Bought a Ruger American back in '21, in .308. Wonderful, solid, no frills, reliable rifle. Super happy with the rifle, and based on my particular rifle's performance, I would recommend them highly for someone out looking for a new rifle, won't break your bank account either.

Yup, agreed they are solid rifles. I would recommend them as well. Thanks for watchin

Something wrong with that rifle, my ruger hit at three-quarters of an inch at a 100yards. Check to see if it's free-floating (they're usually not) or if your scope is the problem. It's a better rifle than that. Sago from down under

Thanks for watchin. It just didn't like those bullets.. the next video I did I handloaded... ya that truer is awesome, puts um in the same hole

From what l know about mine and other folk’s Ruger Americans, hand loading or even heavier bullets for the 1 in 10” twist isn’t going to fix that gun. Find out what the issue was?
@Lowballinoutdoorz2 жыл бұрын
Yup. I made a second video with handloads... fixed.. it just hated the factory ammo I picked up. Thanks for the comment. From what I have learned everyone that has them loves um. Thanks for watchin!
@davidrussell6312 жыл бұрын
@@Lowballinoutdoorz I just watched that one, so I’m so glad for you there wasn’t a gun or scope issue! So hard to believe an inherently accurate rifle would hate loads THAT bad but you live and learn. I know I’m glad to know it’s possible! Having REALLY good luck with the Norma Whitetail, at least in my son’s Savage 270 Win that’s notoriously picky, and in my new Ruger American Pred in 6.5. If they made a cheap 308 in 180gr I’d definitely try it in my new RAP.

Your first shot was good but I think that’s you no offense. I’ve had better results with the ammo you’re using. From a sled too. I could see your sled moving around. I think you should be getting under 2 MOA all day. My Tikka in 6.5 in under 1 MOA repeatedly. My pre accu trigger Savage gets just over 1 MOA all the time and under an MOA regularly.

I'm not impressed with my Ruger American in 308. I've had it at the range three times in the last three weeks, and the best group I could get is 1.75" at 100 yds. using Armscor 180 gr. FMJ. I've tried four other types of ammo and also different bullet weights. I have a Riton 4x16 scope that I mounted and then double checked to make sure it didn't come loose. All the screws are still torqued properly. Now, I'm nowhere near the best shooter out there, but I have a Savage Axis II in .270 that shoots better then the Ruger. The Savage has a basic Weaver 3x9 scope, and I got a 0.75" group using cheap Federal Power-Shok ammo.
