Thanks for the good review, especially the emphasis on the ammunition. Unless a rifle is a total custom job, chambers can be a bit different, which in turn affects ammunition performance. These Rugers are all factory jobs, so it will be a chore finding an ammo that works well in one. I know, I am going through this right now. I've run quite a few high priced ammo through it so far with less than satisfactory results. Now for the funny part. I shot CCI Green Tag through it, and it was abysmal. I shot the same Green Tag out of my old Remington 512 Sportmaster (My Dad gave it to me 65 years ago) and it outshot the new Ruger. And there is a vintage Weaver scope on the Remington. Go figure.
@coreyd1474 Жыл бұрын

It's a weird world that .22 LR rifles live in! My CZ 452 American will put 2 of 3 Aguila Super Extra high velocity 40 grain bullets into the same hole at 55 yards, but throw #3 out. My 100 yard groups would all be .400 or less without that flier. I finally had enough and glass bedded the action and 2 inches of the barrel ahead of the receiver today! Hopefully, this brings it all together and solves that "flier" problem. It's just a rifle for small game hunting and recreational shooting fun, but my old faithful Marlin 39-A shoots .300 at 50 yards all day long and has been since 1976, so this new comer should be getting it done as well. We shall see. My son shoots the Long Range Hawkeye in 300 Win. Mag. and it does very well out there!

Good video! I almost like what ruger is trying to do. I just don’t fully understand what they are doing. A precision rimfire, 2 target rimfire models, and no match chambers. I can’t argue against the precision rimfire bc it’s a good platform to build and they can be bought for $350. This rifles msrp is $600. I feel like there are better options and more accurate rifles for less out of the box. That is if this accuracy representation is the norm for these rifles. I could understand if they had 3 tiers of rifles as far as pricing and offered more features for each (match chamber). This imo is a “target” rifle in name only. Ruger is just getting a little too gimmicky for my taste these days. Just my opinion.

Rushing to release and qc goes out the window. I’d trust a 455 at this point over a 457. I own a tikka t1x and agree nothing is better in the price point. The biggest problem with 22lr right now is everyone is chasing accuracy that just isn’t really there. With marketing being as it is ppl are bouncing around from rifle to rifle looking for something they’ll probably never find. Everybody is looking for Vudoo level accuracy in mass produced rifles. It would be hugely helpful is Ruger told us what the actual chamber was in this gun. Truly match grade ammo is a waste of time and money in a standard chamber. Surprised the Standard Plus didn't shoot better for you, It's always the first thing I try.
@coreyd14744 жыл бұрын
yea its for sure not a match chamber. 100%

Cory, thanks for the video, I enjoy your work. A couple thoughts... I like ruger, but find their barrels can be rough. Try using JB bore paste to polish it a bit. Also cold snowy weather typically is hell on 22 ammo unless it is Biathalon spec. Try Eley club, much better than target for little extra $$ A "new" ammo to try, Gemtec. At the local November NRL22 I was at 3 guys were shooting it with good results. I'm going to try it shortly.

No you're definitely right like I said I wasn't making excuses by any means but it was cold snowy and shitty! Thank you so much for your input and watching it's much appreciated

Get rid of the chrono. for group shooting.
@coreyd14743 жыл бұрын
from my experience using a chrono on several different 22s it did not effect the harmonics. the groups were consistently the same with or without the chrono.

People say a good 22 is based off how well it shoots cci STD vel lol I actually just ordered a Christensen arms ranger 22 and I'm super pumped to see how that thing shoots

Most 22 rimfire are finicky,my 513rem doesn't like any high dollar target ammo,instead it's a 1hole gun with american eagle 2.50 a box.

@@coreyd1474 sorry it was supposed to also say here in Canada 🤦♂️ like in comparison on the same ammo .we get bent over the coals on guns and ammo there’s the conversion and then the mark up after import and then sales tax in my province atleast are 13%, RWS match is like 40 something for 50 rounds it’s really gone crazy since Covid and our communist admiring liberals tried to ban guns essentially and then put a carbon tax so everything that’s been shipped trucks, trains, boats, planes, so in the end it trickles down to the consumer

Its an assembly line mass produced rifle, i have yet to see a ruger 22 rifle ever shoot worthy of its price. You`re just wasting ammo with this gun. You`re chasing something you`ll never catch with this ruger american 22. I`ve bought a few of them, they all sucked. Put yourself behind a CZ 22 rifle, you`ll never look at another ruger rimfire again.

i agree this one was trash for the price but i liked my RPRF. already had a cz and it wasn't any better than this. b14r for the win.
