Good recap on the SFAR. I've been watching a few reviews on it and there is a mix bag of comments with it. Some have no troubles with it and others have been having nothing but problems with not ejecting and double feed in chamber. I am just going to pull the trigger and get me one. Thanks again for your comments.

Thank you! Hopefully you like it! Be sure and break it in then you can turn the gas setting down. If it’s ejecting funny, I’d go ahead and try the lower setting.

There’s no brake in at 100-200 rds on setting 3, the manual says setting #2 will be your normal setting unless your getting under gassed not feeding correctly / your brass is in the 5 O’clock position. The manual says to shoot “most” ammo in setting # 2.. so your brake in process should be in setting #2.

Just picked one up last week. I shot 15 factory rounds on setting 3. I then switched to 2. I then shot another 30 rounds on 2 with NO ISSUES. 3 to 4 oclock ejection pattern, It grouped well with 150 gr fusions and and Sierra Gold Medal Match 168grs. No issues with mine but I might have been lucky or maybe Ruger got their act together.

That’s good that yours worked. I bought another one after I got rid of this, hoping for a better outcome. Had worse issues than the first one. Really wanted to like this gun.

Mines been great. No ejection malfunction. Triggers great for any inexpensive gun I have other than my S&W 629 in SP.

Thank you for subbing! I need to make a video on them. The only video I have used them in was the video that I broke the Amazon scope with. Full power 45-70 rounds killed that cheap scope fairly quickly

I kept the buffer that came in it. They are decent guns after they break in. Just give it a hundred or so rounds. Thank you for watching and hope you have good luck with yours!

From watching all the SFAR and PoF revolution reviews I have come to the conclusion that the small frame ar10 is just not ready yet. We are still waiting for a manufacturer to make one that runs decently. I wish LMT or KAC would give it a go.

My question to you is this, how heavy does the rifle actually feel in hand compared to a 5.56 AR? I plan to use mine for a combat primary weapon and to bring up to Alaska someday as well as hunting feral hogs here in Texas and deer hunting in single shot mode. It it heavier or lighter than say an AK when fully loaded?

Set up the way mine is, it is probably double the weight of an AK. And the short length makes it feel heavier than a like equipped AR. With all of the weight in the back in the Tavor 7, it does take a little bit to get used to. It’s definitely something you will want to get a lot of practice with.

@@sacrificialscience4405 the way I plan to set it up is to have Troy irons and possible a red dot, that's it. Maybe some of that gun wrap tape around the rear area of the gas block to prevent my hand getting zorched if my gun has any issues. Other than changing out the buffer to an H2 buffer, that's all I'm doing to it. Simple and clean. I'll change out and use optics as needed if needed at all.

I want this gun but my only concern is the 2 drilled ports on either side of the barrel by the receiver. It seems to me that would affect the range of the 308 round.

I’m not sure how much that would throw off the accuracy at longer ranges. I do know that this is a little bit more accurate than my 308 Tavor is.

I just ordered it and will be shooting 50/50 suppressed and not. So gas setting 1 for suppressed and 2 for not?

Yes that is the proper setting for both. 3 is for adverse if it’s really dirty or extreme conditions. 0 is off so the bolt won’t cycle.

Which model charging handle did you replace the original with? It’s apparently shorter than standard charging handles.

It was the Radian Raptor. Works well with the SFAR.

Being a righty I hate ambi safeties, the right side lever digs into my index finger knuckle. If a rifle/carbine comes with an ambi I always replace it with a single sided safety. Seems these SFARs are in short supply or high demand, always out of stock.

@Sacrificial Science Called Ruger and asked if I could change out 1 steel weight with a tungsten weight in carbine buffer to make it H1 buffer. They said a tech would get back to me. I will let you know.
