Ruger has great customer service in my experience. Beautiful pistol!

Great little guns. Owned several and they handled everything I loaded them with! Great power in a small package!

Just purchased this handgun, identical to yours, lightly used and it came with Hogue grips, which I really like. I purchased a slide on belt holster, 2 speed loaders(5 shot), and a double belt speed loader pouch. I like it for several reasons, but first and foremost, it is a Ruger and to me that means quality. This is my 3rd Ruger pistol....had a single action stainless that got stolen, then a Ruger Security Six double action .357, and now this one...I like stainless, I like reliability, and I like the ability to shoot .38 Special, .38S+P, and .357 mag from either pistol. Makes it more likely in this time of ammo shortages that I can find something to run through my hand guns! I paid the price for this gun, but my Cowboy Security Six I bought years ago used at a pawn shop for a whopping $225. This new one was a bit more than twice that, but adjusted for inflation over 20 years and the present situation, I feel it was well worth it! I got the hammer variety, like yours, because I like to fire pistols, at times, like a single action. I have a lot of reloaded wad cutters in .38 special, some older .357 mag ammo that was not very expensive, and some new .38S+P that I paid through the nose for, but it should be very good for self protection for it is that copper spun bullet that tumbles when it hits a target. Thanks for the review!

Good to hear about the customer service and the gun. I have an LCR in .357 magnum and bought a 686 Performance Center S&W 686 7 shot 2.5" ....however even with being a larger person it is a heavy carry. I looked at Stainless J frames like the 649, however they are not really optimized for .357 magnums. I had overlooked the SP-101, but finally held one in my hand in the gun shop and with about 26 oz. and solidness of a Ruger, I am beginning to think this is the way to go for concealed .357 magnum EDC. Thanks for you frankness and sharing.

I had issues with the exact same revolver at almost the same time. I think I over oiled the mechanism and it would slip. But Ruger totally fixed it no problem.

Over the past 10 years I have returned 2 handguns to Ruger for service and 2 handguns to Smith and Wesson. The turn around time, sending to receiving the repaired gun back each time was 7 days with Ruger and 6 weeks with Smith and Wesson. Plus, Ruger gave me a detailed breakdown of what they did to the firearm whereas Smith and Wesson gave no explanation although they did complete the repair. I still love Smith and Wesson but you can't beat Ruger's customer service.

Very nice! I had one like that except mine didn't have the Wiley Clapp style curving by the flutes or the rose gold. I also put some Altamont checkered wood panels in the grip. I dealt with Ruger a couple of times and they were equally helpful, but not on account of the SP101 as it was always excellent, but on account of an old P95 9mm.

Thank You. I recently viewed one of your older videos on the SP101 and the gun looked nice. In the video you were talking about how much you liked it and how accurate it was. I noticed you said “had’ in your comment, did you get rid of it?

@@leeman3575 Yeah, I actually had two. Sort of a weird story, but what it amounted to was I had a friend who really wanted me to get a Glock pistol, so he gave me an SP101 with a 3" barrel and I traded it in along with it my 2.25" SP101. He gave it to me specifically so with two of them I could get a new Glock at no cost to me. I regret it a bit, but the Glock I again "had" lol was a great pistol. The new deal with myself is to never trade in guns! Because if I bought it once, I liked it and will miss it. Because I only buy guns I like.
@leeman35754 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a good plan. I have traded in a few I regret, don't want to do that again.

leeman beautiful revolver in .357, i used to have a gp-100 in .357 mag, back in 89" and payed a whooping 333$ for it, so now i have the S&W 686-6 and so my ruger purchase was gonna be a different caliber so i opted for the .327 fed mag and i'm hooked on the .32 calibers now, shorts , longs and the .32 H&R magnum which is my favorite round for this revolver.
@leeman35754 жыл бұрын
Thank you and BTW I really like the wood grip inserts on your SP101, they look sharp, did they come with the gun or did you buy separately? I have thought about getting a .327 but knowing me, I could see myself getting the ammo confused with .357 LOL. I also have a couple of 686s an older one and the newer 686+. Before it’s all said and done I am hoping to add a .357 GP100 to my collection.

@@leeman3575 the wood panel grips are now standard on all sp-101's. about the .327 sp-101 i've never shot a fun caliber until i fired the .32 S&W and long, then i loaded up some .32 H&R mags and i tell you flat shooting low recoil and it's like eating pop corn..you cant stop at one.

Thanks for the info and I will have to try that .32 somewhere down the road

Same thing happened to me but with a SS version in the SP101 and then 10 years earlier with a GP100. Cylinder binds up within 50 rounds and need to send back. It’s a revolver so this should not happen.
