Absorbing Man actually absorbs stuff, but my theory is that the devs couldnt think on how you would use element absorption on the game (tbh idk either) In the comics and in the series (like Spider-Man) the Absorbing Man can copy any material he enters in contact at will like he does in his idle animation in LEGO Marvel's Avengers, like, he can become rubber by holding a ball or webs by being shot by Spider-Man.

You wanna know what’s really strange? The freaking character roster in this game! At first glance it seems like a pretty comprehensive run down of every major player in the Marvel multiverse, but if you look closer you’ll notice that these characters do NOT share the same world. For Example, the main Avengers characters are primarily based on their MCU looks, the Spider-Man characters draw upon the Ultimate Spider-Man series, the X-Men are based on the 90s cartoon etc. This roster is a bizarre hodgepodge of different sources colliding together in one big sandbox where ANYTHING can happen!

The thing about reflections is a technical limitation, most games with reflections in buildings don't have true reflections (and instead has fake ones) because it's very resource-heavy thing to render (since you have to render the entire scene at least twice for the reflection, which would cut the framerate in half. Only recently with ray tracing you can get true reflections in games while having a high FPS, but that requires the game to have RT support, a powerful GPU (like the NVidia RTX line of GPU) or console like the PS5 and/or Xbox Series S/X.
