The Coulson thing is actually a reference to Marvel's Agents of SHIELD. Fury orders his resurrection via Project Tahiti in which they replaced the memories of how much he suffered during the operations with him actually being on vacation on Tahiti.

Oh, and Absorbing Man can absorb things in the comics, I guess they just didnt give him absorbing powers in game because it would require TT to create entire new mechanics and stuff like that.

Absorbing Man actually absorbs stuff, but my theory is that the devs couldnt think on how you would use element absorption on the game (tbh idk either) In the comics and in the series (like Spider-Man) the Absorbing Man can copy any material he enters in contact at will like he does in his idle animation in LEGO Marvel's Avengers, like, he can become rubber by holding a ball or webs by being shot by Spider-Man.

You wanna know what’s really strange? The freaking character roster in this game! At first glance it seems like a pretty comprehensive run down of every major player in the Marvel multiverse, but if you look closer you’ll notice that these characters do NOT share the same world. For Example, the main Avengers characters are primarily based on their MCU looks, the Spider-Man characters draw upon the Ultimate Spider-Man series, the X-Men are based on the 90s cartoon etc. This roster is a bizarre hodgepodge of different sources colliding together in one big sandbox where ANYTHING can happen!
