I'm more impressed that he's not using any hi-speed at all.
@BizerkPixel9 жыл бұрын
why is that? sorry beatmania noob here.
@mwkmn9 жыл бұрын
BizerkPixel It's very difficult to get your timing right when the notes are visually so close together, even if you are technically playing to the beat of the music. Pretty much EVERYONE plays with some degree of high speed these days.
@BizerkPixel9 жыл бұрын
mwkmn interesting. I always thought slower speed allowed you to have more time to see notes coming.
@mwkmn9 жыл бұрын
BizerkPixel Yes and no, and perhaps I should have expanded on this on my first comment. For easier songs without too many notes it absolutely helps, for the reason you mentioned. With more difficult songs however (and the threshold may vary from one player to another), many notes falling down so closely together just becomes confusing and difficult to read (1:57 for instance). Another factor is precise timing. With hi-speed on, you can get a much better feel for whether you are hitting the notes too early or too late, as it helps you visually compensate your movement relative to where you see the notes falling. This is impossible without hi-speed because the notes usually fall too slow (unless the BPM hits 300 or so). Both of the reasons boil down to the goal of minimizing the amount of notes you see on screen, falling at the optimum speed you can respond to.

Lisu, the dude in this Tatsujin video that was featured on beatmaniaIIDX 6th style CS, is a skilled pianist. I forget his website URL, but he had some cool original compositions on there, and explained his name Lisu is derived from one of his favorite composers, Franz Liszt. He's pretty amazing, and one of the best one-handed IIDX players!

It becomes easier and easier with practise. When you have completely mastered something by practising day after day for months, or even years, you do in by instinct.
there's like a million different videos on youtube showcasing this exact clip. but i just love to watch mr. Lisu do his thing and read all the praising comments. Lisu is definately something special. it's a shame he quit. at least he stepped out of the light. i'm absolutly sure he still plays at least in the privacy of his own home.

Lisu actually memorized some of these notecharts so he could do this V thing with the TV off, after him there's not many videos like that, it takes too long time to memorize so many notes. For example, DJ SILENT memorized some of Mei A14, although that's just for the FC with a low score (anmitsu) (so he's motivated to get the [first] FC, otherwise there's no motivation to memorize notes unless you're a little OCD-ish/similar), and there's a video in my account of 1 guy memorizing anmitsu in quasar A14 (watch?v=QOGsebwJwvQ)

What gameinformer meant is that people complain about the difficulty, and this makes anything Guitar Hero has look like mastering the potty. And with the buttons AND the turntable, it whoops Guitar Hero. Maybe not rock n roll, but it's a piano. A very, very insane piano.

@TPHSnowman I totally agree with you here : it's absolutely not a DJ simulator (I think it's closer to playing a really small synthetizer lol), and DJ hero is probably more realistic. But it doesn't have anything to do with the difficulty of the game. Also, if you're looking for an arcade DJ game, you might be interested in Crackin' DJ (2 turntables and a crossfader).

"Turntablism as a modern art form and musical practice has its roots within hip hop and hip hop culture of the early 1970s. It stems from one of the culture's "four pillars" - DJing (see "four elements," Hip Hop Culture). Scratching was already widespread within hip hop by DJs and producers by the time turntablists started to appear."

Anyone else notice that his hand jumps up and down on one camera but stays level on the other? I'm not sure if they are just two different takes or if one camera is just not seeing the hand movement properly.
@Sohcahtoa823 жыл бұрын
The vertical camera is zoomed/cropped, and so depth gets lost. Look closely at 0:41. After he hits the turntable, watch his left hand. The thumb relaxes at exactly the same time in both angles. I'm convinced it's a single take, but that the camera above just doesn't see the bouncing of his right hand as much because of the angle.
@stoneblock12 It's not about making music (also, remixing does not count as being a musician). It's about being good at this game, which doesn't have anything to do with real dj's.

I love the part where it goes into the piano solo, because then it finally makes sense for a little bit why lisu plays the way he does. @omgitskyle1234 Why is it every time someone sees someone displaying an amount of talent that they themselves don't have, some individual has to go attribute it to ridiculous generalizations that have absolutely no bearing on reality? You really think a person needs to practice every waking hour to play like that? Really?

@B4N64L4N LISU is a special case of a player who's extremely good playing one-handed. Most people use both hands on the buttons and the left pinky finger to do the scratches. The harder songs are not meant to be done one-handed... I assume most players would get better scores if they just used both hands. Besides, this song doesn't even begin to show how hard BM is. Look up "Mei another", "Mendes another", "3y3s another", those are some really freaking hard songs D:
