I've had "American" budgies and English budgies. I've had excellent, tamable talkers in both categories, but the English budgies are definitely calmer and more likely to talk. I've never had one that couldn't be tamed but I've had several "American" budgies who could not be tamed. p.s., actually all budgies are Australian, originally.

If I got another it would be an English budgie. They're nice and chill, bigger, and live a bit longer. I think the ones sold when I used to live in Jamaica are a bit of a hybrid with these because Jamaican budgies are still a little more chill than the American ones who are more hyper and spazzy. Sounds like the local population, lol.

Why no toys for the non-breeding birds? I love how calm your birds are and how gently you handle them. I have watched some videos of breeders with large set ups like you who basically just man-handled the birds in and out of the nest boxes. Your birds obviously trust you and have nice happy lives!

Boa noite Rui Sigo o seu trabalho há algum tempo, e embora não costume fazer este tipo de coisas, gostaria de lhe colocar uma questão. Queria iniciar-me na criação de periquitos ingleses, e tenho dois casais, mas nenhum deles está a criar. Coloco-os numa gaiola, com comida, água, cenoura e vegetais frescos (que não comem), e uma casota. Para além de não entrarem na casota passam o dia quase parados no poleiro, e os pares macho-fêmea mal interagem. Tenho-os juntos há uma semana e não sei se estou a fazer algo mal. Será que tem alguma dica que me possa ajudar? Agradecia imenso. Obrigado e cumprimentos :)
