Personally, I think if he swapped the ratios of lemon juice and saline solution, it might be at least closer to drinkable. When I saw the .75 ounce saline pour I winced physically. Though seeing Greg do his 'Salty' face was certainly worth it. Then again, 'Whiskey salty' where the 'salt' is ammonium chloride, aka salmiakki, might be an _interesting_ variation.

Hey, something to consider for the Whiskey Salty if it ever comes up again (or if you ever need/want to mess around with salty flavors in a cocktail again. Salted Caramel perhaps?) there is a liqueur from scandinavia/Finland called salmiakki. It's a licorice liqueur flavored with Ammonium Chloride, and apparently has a salty flavors, as well as being dry/tannin-y. I can't think of many other salty liqueurs, so maybe it's something to have in the liquor cabinet just in case you're feeling weird? I've never had it, but it can't possibly be worse than Campari or Malort.
@ellalella1 Жыл бұрын
Licorice liqueur is not uncommon in Scandinavia, there is one made from a pepper and salty licorice candy, basically that candy put in a bottle of vodka to dissolve or an extract from them mixed with vodka. If you like salty peppery candy, which many of us do, it is really nice. I think a lot of other parts of the world would consider it cursed though.

White russian - Yellow Russian. Like a normal White Russian but with cognac instead of vodka, blueberry liqueur instead of kalua and low fat milk instead of cream. The milk proteins will beautifully coagulate leaving a viscous, grainy dirty yellow/ gray liquid to be enjoyed plain or on the rocks.

The acidity of the lemon helps cut the bitter of the coffee, so not surprised.

I can actually see potential for a Cilantro Cocktail. If you used a White Rum, some Lime Juice, a bit of Simple Syrup, then add some Cilantro. That might be good.

I would love to see what you could do with Dr. Pepper, Dr. Pepper Syrup or making stuff Dr. Pepper flavored. (Might have caught a theme there) Truly enjoy your content as a former bartender. Thanks.

Funny, I posted an idea with Dr. Pepper on the community post: a Pepper Plane, a Paper Plane lengthened with Dr. Pepper. I was taking some inspiration from how bad those "splash of Sprite" drinks ended up being, but I imagine you could actually make something decent with a Dr. Pepper syrup/reduction/taste profile.

What is Dr, pepper's flavor? I genuinely don't know.

@@DoveAlexa It's very complex. Officially it has 23 distinct flavors, but of those it tastes most like vanilla, root beer, cherry, and almond to me.

This is a great idea. I'm also curious if there's anything interesting to be done with Dr. Pepper alternatives, like Pibb (or my personal favorite, doc, absolutely delicious stuff, like Dr. Pepper with more distance from cough syrup).

I missed this request, so maybe y'all can help me with the joke drink my friends and I have been trying to perfect: the Tom Cummings. I'm a huge fan of Tom Collins. One evening, while making myself one, a friend misspoke and called it a "Tom Cummings". Everyone got a laugh out of it, but then started debating what would make a Tom Collins become such a thing. The only thing we agreed on was that the final product should be white or semi-translucent white, so that it imitated the look of... well, y'know. Potentially, if it ended up getting thicker or slimier, that would be acceptable too. Some ideas people came up with were: 1. Mix something into the club soda to make it foggy, such as sugar or potentially cornstarch. 2. Modify the recipe so that it has an egg white, making it closer to a White Lady. 3. Use Calpico, either in place of the club soda or in place of the lemon juice/simple syrup. 4. Convert it to a pudding or Jello shot, just accepting that it is no longer obviously connected to the original Tom Collins. I've been experimenting with these options to create the ideal Tom Cummings, but I haven't quite found the flavor profile that satisfies me. It is my white whale. Help would be appreciated.

You could add white mica or flax seed gel if you're looking for slimy
@FugoriHassei Жыл бұрын
@@caspianm4745 Huh, I've never heard of flax seed gel, does it have a flavor? Slimy is fine with me, as long as it's white-ish and has most of the flavors of a Tom Collins.

This inspired me to try to mix a new cocktail - hopefully good though. Here’s the “Fall Harvest”: 1.5oz rye, 0.5 oz Laird’s apple jack, 1 oz cloudy apple cider, 0.75oz lemon juice. 0.5oz homemade grenadine, 2 dashes Angostura. Shake with ice, strain over a large rock. I’m enjoying it, but am not sure it’s exactly balanced.
