There is a lovely area of mountainside between Ammanford and Swansea which is home to a windfarm and the ruins of a Norman Castle which once guarded the violent frontier between the Normans and the Welsh.
This frontier still exists to this day in the form of the Landsker Line. It is a demarkation between areas where the concentration of spoken Welsh is higher than the area south of the line. I explain briefly why this is.
