I think you should unlock 6 Archers per "base" captured during the fight. So if you start at a base, thats 6 archer slots. Steal another base that is another 6 archer slots. But if one of those bases gets stolen, you may lose the archers stationed at that base, but you still have 12 archer slots, allowing you to fortify your remaining base with more men. For mobile units, its 3 per flag, and maybe 5 per base? Like in Baron's video it is 3 bases (10 mobile unit slots), and 4 flags (12 mobile unit slots). Since the games are 30min, too many units will just take longer.

Vercingetorix was the king of the Gauls, from the Arverni tribe, nowadays called Auvergne, in France. The Capital of his kingdom was Alesia, placed in nowadays Burgundy, or Bourgogne (where the snails we eat are from haha) , in France. Because it's a game where the AI & the player usually choose to fight to the death. An actual good commander likely wouldn't choose to make a stand where they know they're going to lose or have a large disadvantage, unless thry were forced to I'm not an expert, but I wouldn't find it surprising if death counts were far lower than what we would expect on average

@@wote2760 Yeah but you are not understanding, in Ancient warfare casualties were minor, it was more about pushing back and taking ground or trying to flank, when this starts to happen the other side would break and runaway, that is when the majority die

Read Marius mules, its based on Caesars Gallic campaign and give quite an accurate description of some of his battles all be it from the view point of a fiction protagonist much like Sharpe and the Napoleonic wars. but yea, usually the dead or injured were pull back through the lines by the mates, those that weren't so lucky fell between the lines and were trampled underfoot, depending on how disparate the fighting and how long its gone on for, you'd have a tide line 2 or 3 bodies high or just dead men held up right in a crush of bodies once the lines tire and they just start to push at each other. Besides its not the look of the battle field that would be the problem, its the smell. all that blood, urine and faeces from 100s dead mean voiding their bowls, body parts and insides that are now outsides.. think slasher movie x1000

Bit of trivia, giving no quarter relates to quartering soldiers (ie having them live in your house) rather than the currency. Essentially you are saying you will no house any enemy soldiers so you are taking no prisoners.

Random information here..... If a Signifer was dropped in combat and lost the signum (The cohort or century Standard) and the cohort did not rally around and recapture it. If any men from the cohort returned to camp without the signum... They would be subject to decimation. Each remaining survivor of the cohort would draw stones from a bag and 1 in every 10 would be stoned to death by there own cohort.... Thats why the Romans were badass.... Every mans life was held by another and you had to always have your 'brothers' side.....

ok although this game looks good in concept its annoyin in that the transvers crested helmet was that of the centurion, not the standard barer they had either a wolf head and pelts, or lions depending on the legion on there helmets, also a basic roman combat unit was a century of 80 men.
