He got pretty close during his A Ward battle, it’s the closest Illmac has got to this. It had a very different sound to most of Illmac’s battles. This and his battle vs Ward is the most comfortable I’ve seen and heard Illmac. Especially in HOW the wordplay applies

In both battles you can tell there's a bit of genuine condescension, which helps him get to that point. At this point, he could genuinely look down on Diz as almost an unworthy opponent - same as how he talked down to A Ward like he was battling a fan. It's the same space Diz got into against Gjonaj, and that Pat gets into in all of his best battles too.

This right here, in my opinion, is pretty close to the golden age of battle rap, right before it peaked (BOTB 5 was the peak). Now we got all these artist who don't freestyle at all, are long winded, and sound exactly a like. Battle rap, honestly, it just kinda sucks now. KOTD's last great event was Blackout 5, and even that was a throwback to the golden era, in a lot of ways. I use to LOVE battle rap, and now I barely watch it at all.

URL only releasing battles on the app really sucks. Your comment was before COVID too! There have been some fire RBE cards, Iron and Nitty had a classic that’s free on KZbin. Lux and Hollow did a 2 on 2 that was wild, A. Ward cooked Geechi who is now somehow in the goat conversation twice, Pat Stay had some of his best performances before he passed… battle rap is definitely different. I wouldn’t say it sucked when you commented nor would I say it sucks now.
