I’ve been in two minds about seeing this show when it hits Nottingham for a week from the 2nd July. Like you stated, I was actually unsure about how it would work & transfer to the stage. I also didn’t want to watch an overly sensationalised piece, that focused solely on the tragic sinking alone. I’m happily reassured that it is a respectful piece of theatre. Thank you for your brilliant review - which convinced me to just book a few minutes ago. We are booked to see it on the opening night, here at the gorgeous Theatre Royal. My wife is like you, a historic fan of all things Titanic, but would’ve probably swerved seeing this for the same reasons I nearly did - she also has added reason to be wary, as she actually lost family on the ship. I am sure we’ll have a truly memorable evening. Thank you SO much for finally convincing me to book. I look forward to sharing my thoughts on the piece later. Warmest Regards as always Tony. x

I saw the show in Glasgow, and I loved the show for all the reasons you stated the set, score, actors etc. But, I did fell that act 1 dragged a bit in the middle and was too long overall as an act for me. But I did like it. Ps I sang with Kieran brown in a concert in Glasgow about 6 years ago. Great video as always Rukaya.

I saw this in Dublin a few weeks ago and was so blown away. I loved how there were so many leads and so many points of view :) I was terrified when I first saw the film but I went to the museum in Cobh (Cork) when I was 10 and have been so obsessed with the history since. I even gathered all the bits of ripped up tickets they threw off the stage because I wanted a full ticket for the titanic. Hope it comes back to Ireland in the future so I get another chance to see the show :)

I saw Titanic The Musical at The Lowery Theatre in Salford Quays and was equally enthralled by the production. I think I was about 4 or 5 when my Dad first told me the history of the sinking so I have always had an interest in the ship. When the James Cameron film was released I was blown away by the set but the overall story left me cold as the lead characters did not and really could have not existed in that reality. Whilst the film A Night to Remember brought the real characters to life and made you feel for them, it does look a bit dated I loved the staging of this musical and the introduction of the different classes. The film did not even mention the second class passengers so it felt a gap was being filled. Everyone’s hope and aspirations were there to see. I felt the music was very light operatic, in the style of Gilbert and Sullivan and this meant the story clipped along at a great pace whilst allowing time for capturing the feeling of the scene and a few set songs. I loved how the music set the tone for a scene especially after they hit the berg and the music itself piled on the feeling of panic. By the end I felt every character had been fully formed and there was genuine emotion in the audience when the ship sank. Highly recommend this production.

I went to see this on opening night in Southampton! I already knew the cast and had higher expectations of the show. The show wasn't as good as my group had expected ( we all really love the score) and particularly I disliked Alice beane. Anyway, the show was cancelled halfway through as debris fell down onto the stage (refunds?) I am going to see it again when it comes more locally and I'm going to hope that the cast is more used to it and hopefully it was just first night nerves. Anyway I hope you enjoyed it! Also I am with you when it comes to being a titanic geek 🤓
