I use short grain rice, any kind works.

Now this is what called autenitic Afghani shola with meat and chickpea which is also not decorating with chaka or yougurt and meatballs, lolzzz. I have seen this autenitic shola ftom my generations where my families made same. I seen mostly kabul people decorating with yougurt. Even kichiri quroot shouldnt be decorated but yougurt placed inside a bowl and place it in ghori . Amazing shola sister and live ur recipe.
