Best Ariel cosplay ever. Tock that Dinglehopper! Here it is, the film that pulled Disney out of it's darkest era, and into a new age of greatness. There are just so many reasons to love this movie. The characters are all great, the animation and music are gorgeous, and the songs are next level Broadway style hits. "Part Of Your World" is just beautiful, "Under The Sea" is a massive bop, and "Poor Unfortunate Souls" is still one of the best villain songs Disney has ever made.

Apparently, they had more costumes planned and created, but because the movie was 90% CGI, they had to scrap a lot of the costumes. It’s a shame too because they could have done a lot with Halle’s wardrobe in the movie. The blue dress grew on me, but that pink dress…absolutely not😭

Ursula's design was based off Divine, the drag queen of the century, famous for songs like 'You Think You're A Man', and for famously movies that were deliberately camp and deliberately disgusting like 'Pink Flamingoes' and 'Female Trouble' (both directed by John Waters, the Pope of Trash himself) and was the original Edna Turnblad in the 1980s movie 'Hairspray' (also directed by John Waters in his first relatively tame movie) that inspired the 2000s musical and 2007 movie musical 'Hairspray). She was also supposed to voice Ursula but sadly died due to heart failure before rehearsals could start. When people visit their grave they've been known to leave flowers, donuts and make-up on her grave, and have also been known to have sex on her grave or even allegedly defecate on it in homage to her most iconically disgusting scene at the end of 'Pink Flamingos' - and yes it was real (won't say what). John Waters claims it's what she would have wanted.

Ariel had one dress because that was all someone else could spare for her (and it makes the blue dress more meaningful!)😭😭 I do wish she had a transforming formal wear dress in the style of the time but can appreciate the reinterpretation of the pink dress as a day dress that is detailed but in the style of that time (1830s). I love the original!!! Melissa doesn't hold a candle to Pat Carroll. We were robbed of a gorgeous wedding dress in the live-action, I agree she should've worn the sparkly blue dress too. Sebastian is nightmare fuel, Flounder is just sad, Triton was a massive d-bag and abusive, Eric was ugly lol...and couldn't sing. I'm sad that Halle wasn't given Ariel's pink princess dress as well, same with that cute blue outfit she had in the cartoon! I think a lovely pink or coral dress would've looked great with Halle's skintone ♥also, I like Halle's version of "part of your world" more than Jodi's because it just felt more emotional? I dunno. Yes Tammi, she does & as villain Vanessa, she gets more dress changes then our heroine Ariel and ALL her dresses look significantly BETTER. I believe Vanessa was miscast as she looks more youthful with a sunny disposition which is quite the contrast from OG Vanessa. Tsk….Ariel couldn’t even get a sailboat canvas when she first got her legs and came on land, but instead gets caught in a fishing net completely naked and covered in water bugs & is found by strange men…NOT Prince Eric like in the original.
