I have had success with isopropyl and acetone just drip a drop of 50/50 into the hole wait an hour and it seaps in behind the pin and eats the spring but not touching the brass so the pin will free up sometimes saves faffing with plugs and drills patience young padawan!

I've had this problem a few times ! What I would do is knock out the plug - Very carefully with the right sized drift. Then, using the smallest drill (16th) that will reach the pin, drill a small hole in. Now you've got two options: screw in a small wood screw (that's what I've done ) and pull it out. put the smallest amount of cyno on the end of a piece of wire and push it into the drilled hole and pull the fcuker out ! Tapping it doesn't work the pin is caught up with the spring, it's caused by picking and usually a damaged spring. I reckon I've done about six, maybe more? Cyno the plug back in - use a tight fitting "follower" (bit of bar ) to make sure you don't push the plug in too far. Cheers and all the very best to you and yours 👍 🍻 🍻 🍻

I'm thinking there might be a 2nd part to this vid in future, the wood screw is probably the one i'll use, cheers Tinnie 🍻

@@paulg413 👍 Just to say, when I did it I used a small drill in a pin vice and did it by hand. The drill was a bit short. I had to make the head of the screw smaller to fit through the plughole.

@@BeercanBushcraft got one of those, I think I'd want the control too, there's a plan Z the other end of the spectrum to get this in the mill and drop a 1mm end mill through the plug hole and mill the pin to dust but the setup would be a lot of effort
@BeercanBushcraft2 ай бұрын
@@paulg413 the drill and screw method is very easy 👍 You can use the same method from the top and that's even easier.

@@BeercanBushcraft I've done it to remove and grub chamber plugs before so should be good 👍

Lovely lock well restored, very interested to see your solution to the stuck pin

by now you'll have seen I have no solution at this point other than to upgrade the remaining pins 🤣

Excellent restoration on this one, it may only have 4 pins but it appears to be Higher security than most others with your modifications!! Top notch work LPP, Cheers Mate.

@@paulg413 I could feel the frustration with that first pin.

Regarding the stuck pin one-have you tried the old and simple "percussive persuasion"? I had a Yale like that, and a couple sharp blows to the bottom of the housing (with the pins up) got the stuck pin loosened up to get it fixed up.
@paulg4132 ай бұрын
i gave it a few taps Jeff but was a little concerned about denting the body so was probably a little too gentle but thanks anyway 👍

Have you tried confidence? Sry popular meme culture has ruined me 😂 no, actually what I wanted to ask is have you tried heating the lock body? Expansion and shrinking from heating and cooling might loosen that pin. It's a long shot, but might be worth a try. In any case, I wish you best of luck in getting that beautiful lock complete and fully functional again

😆 yep, tried heat, nothing doing there but thanks for the suggestion 👍
