Thank you for the useful video, Seema. But I must point out that your example "Television" is an exception to the rule. The stress is on the first syllable. Stressing ONLY "VIS" is wrong, or unnatural at best. It should be TEL-uh-viz-zhun.

I watched the first part, and I loved it. For this part, I have a few comments though. I was sure television is stressed on the first syllable. I looked it up, and Oxford Dictionary says it is, both in British and American English, while Cambridge online dictionary says it can be stressed either on the first or the second syllable. Well, I am more familiar with the first. One more thing is you pronounce SCEnery (the first syllable of the three) as an example of words with -ery, but pronounce hypNOsis (the second syllable of the three) as an example of words with -osis. Aren't they under the same rule?

Hi mam, I saw your video tried to work your concepts with other words but it didn't work with many words. Example unfathomable - "able" at the end. Yet it had "able" at end when I tested your concept it falter this stress rule mentioned in video. Rule to stress previous word before syllable " able". So I guess unfathomable must have only 2 syllable, "un" and "fa" . When i am trying while pronouncing thom the chin drops. It seem to me 3 syllable. Please help mam for the same . Thank you very much for the information and such eloquent concept. If possible please refer a book for syllable rule which states these and other concepts.

I am sorry but some facts are wrong... she says we do not care about the number of syllables in each word but it's false. She also says, with the example with the suffix -ITY, the stress is on the third syllable? Not all the time. Let's take the word: eccentricity (the stress is on the first syllable and ends with the suffix -ITY)... Maybe she's right in the way she introduces it but I am sorry not understanding everything... Let's work this out if someone may help me see clearer than I currently am... :)

HI, i do appreciate your lectures . good attempt. but at places i do dare differ. in the previous lecture you mentioned the words ( nouns)comprising two syllables, first syllable is stressed but what about "July"? is not the second syllable stressed here? and in this lecture you claimed the words ending at suffixes --able , first syllable is stressed. In the first place, in durable i dont think able is a suffix coz in that case what about "du" what is it? and what about "desirable " here second syllable is stressed not the first one???? Just a question regarding CLARITY. As far as I know, every syllable has a vowel in it. In which case, 'CLA ' will be the 1st syllable, 'RI' the 2nd, and 'ty' the 3rd syllable. In your video , you just pointed out 'CL' as the first syllable without 'A'. So my question is why didn't you include 'A' in the first syllable?
