Rules Lawyer Guide to Foundry, Part 3: MAKE IT MOIST (Graphics, Sound, and more!)

A modder sent me these notes which I'll include here: -"JB2A Animations" and "Automated Animations" will eventually transfer to "PF2e Graphics" which promises performance gains, but that is currently still a work in progress -Token Magic FX will apparently break with the next version of Foundry v13 (praying to the Mod Gods that this will be rectified!) -"Dice Stats" is a bit heavy for my tastes; "Simple d20 Stats" looks lighter and more straightforward -13:18 SyrinControl doesn't work at the moment (Sep. 2024) and is no longer supported. But Syrinscape maintains and supports a Syrinscape Web Player that requires players to open a browser window but is fully-functional (it shares music, one-shot sounds, etc.).

The thing that my players like the most about Dice So Nice! is that when they roll poorly, they change their dice theme to "put the other set in time out" just like they do with real dice. 🤣

One note about JB2A if you pay for the Patreon and use the hosting service from Molten-the package size is 6.2GB and the basic Molten plan is 5GB of storage, so you'll need to upgrade either your plan or at least your storage to hold it (this is the voice of fresh experience)

You dont habe to buy any books to use foundry, all the rules, statblocks etc. are in the free PF2e Module

Monk's Combat Marker > Combat Booster Monk's Combat Details can leave a faint copy of the current character's token instead of that ugly X that Combat Booster leaves behind. Plus all the other combat tracker benefits.

Since the "Pathfinder Token Pack: bestiaries" is now a Paizo asset, a question: If I don't have the bestiary items from Paizo. if I buy the tokens will they update the images on the compendia blocked on Foundry? By the way, great video set, very clarifying

I'm not sure I understand the question. I do know that I can place monsters from both Bestiary 1-3 and Monster Core, and they both seem to have artwork. And I think at least the most-recent artwork is definitely available (I'm not sure of the case where a Bestiary picture was replaced with new artwork in Monster Core)

The latest update of core adds token pack priority. Not sure what you mean about not having bestiary as these are free with system. Packs also have mapping files for using with other systems

@@TheRulesLawyerRPG There is a separate, new module for Monster Core. Some of the monsters in Monster Core also exist in the Bestiaries (and vice versa), so the old module has art for them already (and again, vice versa), but you should point new players towards the Monster Core version, if I'm understanding correctly.

FYI Dice so nice has problems with its 5.0 release. (They been discussing this in the foundry discord). They suggest backdating to version 4.6 in the short term while debug.

I don't have anything to help you now, but I think the "Regions" feature they added in v12 of Foundry will fairly soon be able to do this without modules. Keep on eye on that in the next few months. There's a Foundry discord that I'm sure will highlight that feature when it's released.

Thanks for the list. Adding them one by one and going thru settings, can't seem to fix the Pathfinder UI v3 Token effects HUD to be around the token. Was going the ask somewhere else but all I found was a discord in French. Does anyone know why its not working?

Love the recommendations but i cant use any of the bigger modules cuz foundry always stalls the download if it doesnt finish in 30 seconds 😭

Great videology. Where's the Rules Lawyer mod, though? I am sure you could get some help making this non-fictional. What should this mod do, though? Perhaps a few of the anime lawyers exclamations "Objections!!!!" etc.? Perhaps a few rules tips? IDK!

@@TheRulesLawyerRPG It's actually not... I figured it out you need a mod that adds a soundboard. I installed SoundFX Library and Moulinette for the Soundboard and it works!

This mod in no longer maintained and is not verified for foundry version >12. Maybe someone will update it in the future. So you need to try your luck installing it manually
