Is there any rule to read Bhagavad Gita : 📖
Here are the rules that you might have heard,
But there is no distinction between men and women except that for the body. We all are souls.
Think beyond this concept of you
being limited to this body.
Now, first of all, reading gita is not a punishment that you have to give up doing the stuff you like.
Some basic amenities must be maintained while reading the book. One must keep his/her body pure.
By pure, i mean.. Some basic rules that people maintain while going to a temple.
There is no such rules prescribed for reading Bhagavad Gita. One can read it anywhere or anytime.As per Gita implementation of knowledge is more important than reading
Other important things are :
1. Follow the reading of gita with meditation.
2. Do not read too much of it in one day. (if read too much in one day, you might lose out interest in your actual life) Read a maximum of two shlokas with their meanings in details.
3. Prefer an easier version of Gita that can be understood by you according to your language and beliefs. (I suggest "srimadbhagwadgita" Gita Tatva Vechani Tika : GitaPress, gorakhpur. )
4. Understanding gita is a slow process. It takes time. You also need to experience and realize the stuff you are reading.
5. Respect the book. Keep it separately from other books even if you are not religious. This helps amazingly to all the new readers. :)

Gita is meant for fallen souls, regardless of superficial identifications. Gita for me is the science of the human condition and spiritual progress. We may not have the inclination or ability to avoid thoughts of sinful activities, or find a peaceful place etc. Of course, with some enlightenment people may decide to read at different times/places. Worth noting that a person becomes fully god conscious when they are always thinking of the lord… including eating, defending, resting etc. Controlling the mind is harder than controlling the wind… according to BG.

Srimad Bhagbwatgeeta is a miraculous book. Onday I was very upset and started reading it...after one hour I felt someone standing behind my chair....then suddenly I felt sleepy and slept on the table......next day I felt the change and calmness, the problem was solved itself .. I always read books N gita in a vedic way I.e 1. sit facing east or north while reading 2. sit on a asana or kushana (made of grass) 3. do achaman, vishnusmaran,shuddhikaran, nyas 4. do mahatyma nyas and ganpati pranam 5. say the dhyan of gita by offering flowers 6.say the mool mantra or pranam mantra of Krishna 7. do panchopachar puja i.e deepa,dhupa ,chandan,flower,naivedya also akshay 8. now read the gita * do not sneeze,take break,yawn,or be in other items if this happens read the gita for first ur back should be straight offers Tulsi and white flower

And everything is important ways to get god realization but Gaudiya or Iskcon focuses more on Bhakti yoga and in few chapters they outrightly changes the narrative to suit their perspective. Be pure:- wash your hands. Don't just hold the Book. Do not keep it on your bed or table directly, first lay down a clean cloth underneath. If you had eaten food containing onion or garlic before reading the book, first wash your mouth nicely. Handle the Book with care 🙏

Simple rules : 1) It's not a normal book it represents a religion so respect the faith. 2) Keep it in some place clean 3) Take bath, clean your hands and don't wear shoes while reading 4) Meaning of every slock can mean many different things so don't just read the translation try to learn Sanskrit and it would be so much more great to understand. Lastly) Don't do Pooja of this , open it and read it if you want to bring change in your life

Ma'am, the second point you mentioned about lossing interest in actuall life , i truly agree with this point, i have pdf of bhagvatgeeta, few months ago during my 12th i was reading bhgwatgeeta and it was sooo amazing that i couldn't stop myself from reading it , but i use to read 5-6 pages a day and even more , and was not focusing my on my studies , it was difficult for me to leave gita and focus my studies , but i had to give it a break, and now i am going to start reading it again ❤
