Mawlana Jalaladdin Rumi was born in Belkh (Afghanistan) but he moved Konya, Turkey. Befor Turks Konya was the ğart of Roman Empire and even after Romans people from that land could be called Rumi ( does not necesserily be Roman person) Ottoman sultans were also titled as Sultan-i Rum (Sultan of Roman) especially after the concuest of Istanbul (as it was capital of the Roman empire or wha ever left from it) Finally Rumi is a name now generally represents Mawlana Jalalddin Rumi in short.
