For example, some of my family lives in English-speaking Quebec - 2 in Montreal, 3 in the Eastern Townships -- voting Liberal is good for their community. And it's practical because enough non-English speakers will also vote Liberal. They don't want to vote Bloc, so it's Liberal. The NDP under Layton was an alternative for a moment, and before that Harper was an alternative too. Poilievre could be a factor this time. The tendency is to look for ANY federalist option that can beat the Bloc. Which means putting aside ideology for whomever/whatever can form a big tent.

Those 3 groups account for 131 seats of the 153 they hold. Any that are signed up are booked for months in advance. Plus you pay at least half. So like I say count your blessings. If I lived in Alberta I could buy my own insurance through blue cross and get most of the work done for a fraction . This I know because my brother has it and uses it.

I looked into Dental Insurance and it was $80 a month and still had deductable. I had almost $3000 work done in the past year and only paid about $250.

@@gerismith1218 Look, I'm NDP and glad they sort of hung on. But, I have to admit, Rustad did great, he is showing himself to be a credible leader right now. He will probably win next election. He didn't even have time to properly vet his candidates, nor did he fully work out whatever it was that was being done with the BC Liberals. Rustad would be fine as a Premier and his party more than capable. All he has to do is push the Law and Order issues, promise to balance a budget and talk about how he'd make life more affordable and he's in. I kind of like him: he's as firm and straightforward as Horgan, who was a formidable Premier. He could also talk about business opportunities in hightech and culture. Washington and California are a lot richer than BC for a reason. Learn from them.

Health care - beyond catastrophic events like cancer or car accidents - isn’t really insurable in the traditional sense. Needing a teeth cleaning is not some one off random occurrence, it’s a given. Paying someone to “insure” this, is just putting your money into a negative interest savings account. If you have the cash it’s better to pay for it yourself.

It's better than what the Conservatives gave us in dental care by.... 1 million people. Yes, it's not good enough, but imagine voting against it and never having thought up something as good? Same with 10 dollar day care: to the best of my knowledge the Conservatives neither offered such programs nor did they vote for this one. Millions of Canadians have children and need day care. The NDP and Liberals did something about it. The Conservatives, to the best of my knowledge, did nothing to help people raise children while parents work. Offering tax cuts is not enough unless the taxes you pay are so huge that the cuts would finance your day care. For most Canadians this is not the case.
