This song was once available on a cassette and it was included with a hair relaxer kit when my Mom brought it from a hair salon. My Mom threw it in the garbage, and was not aware that it was a Run-D.M.C. cassette tape in the kit. But my older brother took it out of the garbage. I remember my brother playing it on his boom box outside on the porch a few days later. This song bring me back to my teenage years.

I have taught in Virginia and Maryland and all of this information is covered (minus entertainmemt) in the high school curriculum. I see comments like this a lot and get confused as to where these kids must go to not have this information in their schools.

took me way back to the 80's in Nigeria when I came across this as I was a die hard RUN DMC/ Def Jam fan! I use to rap this all day long & like everyone learnt sooooooooooo much about black peoples role in history. I was taking a shower just now & the song came to mind & I started rapping it. As soon as I came out of the shower & jumped on YT to see if it was here & to my pleasant surprise here it was! Just played the hell out of it & was transformed back to that kid in the 80's! FANTASTIC & A CLASSIC!

Awesome. Like a lot of people here, I've too been looking for this for a very long time. Back in the mid 80's when hip hop was in the breakdance stage, I was in elementary school and there were people doing celebrations of black history month and I would go to my school auditorium which had a cafeteria and there were these presentations where the chorus to this song was narrated. Than, the song itself was performed on stage a couple of years and as a lover of old hip hop and heavy music, I was totally blown away. Thank you for posting it. Really appreciated. Hail Run DMC.
