I have 2 TVs one for my bedroom, 1 for living room area one of my bedroom is a 43” RCA RTU4300 and the RCA TV had no problems other than some motion blur. Price I paid at London drugs was $249.99 cad before tax. London drugs, retail price.$299.99cad but if you go over to Staples, they will charge you $449.99cad for the exact same TV I got the RCA either in 2020 or 2021 and I use it with my Xbox in my bedroom. I will warn you the speakers are junk they sound horrific, so I recommend if you buy the RCA TV to get a sound bar or something that has optical audio to get good audio out of it at least also, I never noticed the motion blur in the games. Also I never noticed the motion blur other than in this test. I also have a Sony Brvia X800G 49” that I got on Black Friday 2019 haven’t tested it yet

imagine watching this video on a 165hz monitor and being like WTF, why is all the motion so crap?! The monitor is using one of the most acclaimed 27" LG panels that is great, so it should not have such obvious problems. 95% of the time people can't notice DSE or banding in real world content and that's what matters, there's a good saying in the TV community: " If you look for a problem you will find it".

I agree - but this is a great deal for a brand new TV. If you just dropped thousands on a new flagship model then this test should be run to make sure you don’t have to return the unit. Ex: if you got a great deal on a floor model OLED.

I wish I couldn't see it. However working in retail being the lead TV sales agent I could spot a issue a mile away. Really had me hating my role as I could see issues on some very high end TV. Grey scales and DSE being a issue.

Considering TVs today are mass manufactured in such high units to keep the prices low and consumers happy, there will unfortunately still be high numbers of defective units, especially with LCDs as they require a lot more parts and manufacturing steps. Best thing to do is check the TV as soon as you get it, see if you're fine with the quality or not, and exchange it or keep it.

I ran the video on a 1 year old CX OLED and it’s REALLY amazing, perfect colors and no banding, etc. The only strange thing is with the motion test. I usually watch things on Film Maker mode, with all “enhancements” off. In this mode the panning letters are very difficult to read, they simply become blurry to my eyes. In Standard mode it’s better, but in Sports mode it becomes very smooth. The thing is: I think the film maker is doing what it should, showing the panning text without smoothing it. Any other oled owner noticed the same?
@davekagels26332 жыл бұрын
Yes. This video is only 30 fps, and I also have motion interpolation turned off, so the panning text was doubled up and jittery, which is to be expected.
@Vdhm912 жыл бұрын
The 24p judder, as it's known, on most OLED TVs is horrible. My parents have the LG C1 48" and other than the panning judder, they really enjoy filmmaker mode and the tv overall, especially the inky blacks. My father edited a tv show he worked on in Canada for awhile, and can confirm, filmmaker mode is definitely the most accurate mode out of the box.

@lukeskywalker24052 жыл бұрын
None of these tests highlight any faults just performance. DSE occurs on the majority of LCD screens, motion will only be smooth if frame rate interpolation is turned on, and blooming is a natural feature of full array local dimming tech. Implying these are faults is misleading.

Hisense U6G. Absolutely perfect. Yes, a $499 4k QLED TV is perfect playing back through an Xbox Series S via a Denon AVR-S960H Receiver (5.1.2 Atmos surround; In ceiling speakers). Had it since ~Summer 2021. Only critique is your video. I tried this on the following: Personal cheapo 2018 laptop with a 60hz generic display; Lenovo branded "gaming" laptop with a 1050ti Work's Dell laptop, which I don't think I'm allowed to give the model number. These laptops are for production and media use, which we share the same models as our Media Production team. I work in IT. My desktop 3060ti rip, with a Samsung QLED 1440p 144hz display (Odyssey I believe it was) This Hisense U6G. The only different quality I see, besides the "smooth" being at what appears to be sub 30fps and the text being basically upscaled at a lower resolution (maybe KZbin compression?), and the colors being slightly off on certain displays (With my U6G being the most bright and lively of each of them, set to "Standard", and the Work laptop being very close to that, just not as bright), it's clearly safe to say: I'm unsure if this video is 'legit' or if there is a clear "difference in TVs". But if there is, then whatever TVs have severe issues (beyond generic burn in from long lasted OLED displays, which is why I hated OLEDs and hesitant on QLED). Nevertheless, "passed" seems kind of a redundancy since from 4 different variances of "quality" I've tested found almost no real disconcerting difference. At most, was above. And even that I'm chalking it down to KZbin decompression issues because it was nearly identical on the larger displays (32" and 55"), but the 15" ones you couldn't notice. Reading comments, I see a bunch of people saying mixed things but mostly that theirs "passed". I can't really see this being excessively accurate. Although, I don't know. I'm not an expert in this field.

Mild corner vignetting, imperfect uniformity, and occasional blooming are absolutely normal for LED backlit LCD TV’s including flagship QD models and these “problems” don’t necessarily indicate a defect, unless uniformity is so severe it is continually visible while watching content it ought to be ignored I very much won the panel lottery on my 75” Sony X95H with zero dead pixels and a high native contrast panel, but like all X95 Sony TV’s it has slightly darkened corners and even though the uniformity is excellent, it is not perfect and should be expected to be, it has been this way for generations of this and nearly every LCD TV
@raymammola13462 жыл бұрын
Yes i agree,i got a 65” Sony X95J,very mild corner vignetting only noticeable if your stare at it on a white screen. I ran this test and saw no other issues. Other people that have the 75” and 85” models complained of a Grid effect,i do not see it on mine. I came from a 55” Sony Bravia 2015 and the only noticeable issue i could see on that TV was the slight vignetting in the corners also but only if you look for it after hearing about it. In everyday use id never even know it was there. As you said this exists on all LED backlit TV’s.

Bought an LG C7 OLED and LG home theatre kit for over £3k when it came out as I was assured it would cover me for years. Within a year the burn in made the tv unwatchable. It even had the mute symbol burnt into it on the screen. I didn't use it (in my opinion) any differently to any other tv I have had in my life and within a year it was ready for the trash. Sent it to Currys (retailer) and Lg (manufacturer) under their "5 year warranty" only to be told it doesn't cover burn in as they have insisted that I must have used the tv incorrectly. Like I just watch it muted constantly for the mute symbol to burn in. I will never buy another OLED, until burn in is no longer an issue/possibility, they're not fit for purpose imho.

I’e got a 55 inch Samsung Q7FN from 2017 which has been used as main TV since then I‘ve got to say that no other 7 Series has had such good Quality since then. The Picture Quality is so great that may be compareble to that of 2020‘s 9 Series Models It is a shame how Samsung decided to lower the Quality on the following models to boost up the sale of their more higher end models

Sony ZF9/Z9F and Sony X95J, both passed with no problems.

Still rocking my Panasonic plasma from 2007. Motion could be better but no dirty screen or burn in. They just don't make them like they used to I'm guessing

I have a cheap Hisense from Walmart. Everything did great besides the subtitles, those were very jittery.

Panasonic p65st50 from 2015.. PLASMA ;). Still going strong in 2024. Handles the tests superb except motion test because i got motion interpolation turned off. With it on and low fps motion like this video is smooth as it can be .

When a tv performs poorly during a motion test (judders and blur) Is it usually a defective unit or will a replacement be no different. I have a Hisense 55”U8K and I heard that they just have bad motion.
