Someone further down might have mentioned it but John Fogarty tunes all strings down a whole step and plays out of an Em shape. Your lesson is great and ideal for people who can’t be bothered to do that but some of the licks don’t work as well playing out of a Dm shape.

I play it as a slide tune in open Dm which is just every string down a whole step except the A. No matter how you do it it’s good fun to play.

This is a great lesson, on a song I never really thought about learning. Especially on a song like this, you should give us some insight into how you get your tone. Because of the lighting or camera angle, I couldn't even tell where your pickup selector was set.

I forgot what a great song this is and both bluesy as well as a little funky. I'll have to learn this one. Thanks for the post John, I enjoy your posts. You know Fogerty tunes to D standard and if you watch him live it does look much more like he is using a ‘Em shape rather than a Dm shape.

In my recent video tutorial, I use Em as the foundation of the song, and it's super easy. Other video channels use the Am and Dm approach. Suzie Q and Grapevine a easier and fuller sounding in Em also.
