How do you power your Raspberry Pi? Is it via USB? Or via a 110v wall-wort with a USB connection? How about plugging it into a RigRunner or Bioenno Battery? I bet you never thought of that! Now you can - with the Switching Power Supply from RPC-Electronics, you can power your Raspberry Pi 2, 3 and 4 from a direct powerpole connection. Let's see how!

I added Powerpole connectors and a 12 volt to 5V Buck converter to my 3D printed case for the reflashed TV boxes I use for radio and 3D printing apps. That allows me to use USB power or 13.8 VDC to run the boxes when mobile.

I've used a couple of similar items to try powering a Pi used as an SDR server. My experience so far is that, since they are switching ps's or buck converters, they have terrible rfi. The otherwise wonderful one from geekworm was one of the worst for rfi. Lines all through the waterfall. Would love to know if this one is rf quiet.

Our web hosting service is Turbify, formerly Yahoo. I have several tickets in about the SSL issue. However, our order processing is not done by our website, rather PayPal, which is fully secure. There is no risk since we're not actually processing the payments. Also, we have been in business for almost 24 years. We wouldn't have lasted this long if we were scamming people out of their money. Hopefully that helps ease your concern.

@@rpcelectronics Jason - thank you for your response. My intent is to not impune your business but rather try to help. Your products look great! I want to help you make your business even more successful. In addition to being a HAM, I am an IT professional with more than 30 yrs experience. I am using the Chrome browser and when I visit your site I receive a message saying your site is not secure and then I have to take extra steps to visit your site. Needless to say, that presents a poor customer experience. One of the things your SSL Certificate does is it "says you are who you say you are". I checked the details on your cert and it was issued on August 29, 2022 and it expires on February 22, 2023. You mentioned that you have submitted tickets to your hosting provider. If they don't get this fixed ASAP, I suggest you move to another hosting provider. One other benefit of a valid certificate is your SEO for your site will be improved. Be that as it may, I plan to order a couple of your boards using PayPal. I will pay with my wife's paypal so you will see the first part of the email start with karen. Thank you for making great products and I hope you get the SSL issue resolved quickly.

or just buy an Odroid C4 (most direct pi4 competitor), N2+, or M1. They are objectively better. They handily beat the performance of the pi4 (in some ways orders of magnitude better), have NATIVE 12v POWER, and are AVAILABLE. The only issue is when you find pi-specific images... and this is the fault of the broken architecture compatibility that is ARM... not the fault of any one ARM sbc.

A buck converter is typically increasing the input voltage up to a higher voltage level. For example, the 3.3V to 5V buck converters for running a 5V device off a 3.6V lithium polymer battery. I actually have one of those designed and I have produced a small batch for a digital group here in the US. Will likely become a regular product we sell. Only difference is, ours runs on three AA batteries.

We opted to not use the GPIO header for two reasons. 1. It's bad practice to feed voltage to the output side of a voltage regulator without a diode to prevent backfeeding and 2. We wanted to keep the header free for other boards that actually need the GPIO, such as an MMDVM board and we show on the website. I originally designed this power supply with that exact application in mind.
