This was Cannon’s crowning achievement, and pinnacle crown jewel!

I can tell you, the moving train scenes were indeed real! They used real locomotives from Alaska, Montana and Oregon to do the moving train scenes. While in the cabs and in some scenes, they were filmed at a studio. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Runaway_Train_(film)#Shooting And believe it or not, this movie takes inspiration from a real life incident from the 1960s!

Every time CANON is mentioned it reminds me of Chuck Norris' Missing in Action movies. Make your friend watch Stallone's LOCK UP, a nice movie about prisoners in a maximum security prison.

I like this one maybe more than Tony Scott's Unstoppable, it has more depth about good and evil, the criminal mind, his narcissism, selfishness, empathy, it plays with that philosophy and with the greys of Jon Voight's character, that make it more than just a movie about a runaway train, the story is by Akira Kurosawa, so it is more than just a generic train story.

I would personally prefer Unstoppable, because it basically was an inspiration for a runaway incident that almost ended in fatal disaster and happens nearly a decade before it was released. Plus it also predicted what we’re to come 13 years later with the 2023 incident in Ohio. Plus it isn’t ashamed to show some understandings of its-execution.
