Just to be clear- you don't have to pick up bibs the day before each race. I got my half bib on Wednesday, and the race was Saturday (not that got to use it... 😔) there was a lady there running the 5k and 1/2 and I over heard her say she didn't look forward to coming back Friday to get her half bib. I grabbed her and told her that they must have made a mistake and that she should go ahead and get her half bib now too. So remember... you can get them early. And the lines are shortest on Thursday morning from what I hear.

What’s the chance of rain for these events chance of canceling ?!? I’m very curious because I’m fundraising for 2020 Dopey Challenge
@HeatherJergensen5 жыл бұрын
From what I understand, this is not a common occurrence. the 2017 cancelled half was somewhat of a fluke, and a couple of years prior they shortened the half during wine&dine in November due to weather. A resident of Florida and a good friend of mine says that the cold from 2017 and 2018 were basically anomalies. It's always a concern, but happens only rarely.

Heather, Not sure I want the answer to this question, but I'll ask anyway. What do you think the odds are that there will be any races at Disneyland in 2018? I completed my first run Disney race in April (Dark Side) and loved it. Since then I set my sights on Light Side and Dark Side in 2018. However, the Disneyland races seem to all be in a state of postponement. From other videos and online content, it appears that the city of Anaheim and Disneyland have issues. I am starting to think my only shot at running a race at Disneyland would be a last minute entry at this years Super Heroes race. What do you think?

This is definitely a tough topic, isn't it? Yes, there is a lot politically behind these delays, and there is so much we don't know. This is not exclusively internal to Disney Parks and RunDisney (two separate entities). The City of Anaheim, Orange County, and even the state of California in my opinion (and reading between some lines), have hamstrung RunDisney and kept the race organizers from putting on an event worthy of Walt's name. This is a much bigger conversation, but here's what I think: if Disney had control over this, they would have been taking our money for months now (and we would have gladly forked it over). Do I think they'll have races in 2018? Yes. Is it possible they will cancel? Also yes. Would I be surprised if they took a hiatus in 2018 and resumed races in 2019? Not at all. We are leaving our racing hobby in the hands of California politicians, and Disney's hands are all but tied. Superheroes won't be the last RunDisney race in California, I'm pretty sure, but it's still worth running if you are on the fence (my favorite half!). Thank you for this question, Jeff. I plan on addressing this again in the future.

Super Heroes is your favorite half? I am intrigued. Why is this half your favorite? Would it really be worth a trip across the country (from SC) to get a coast to coast medal this year? If you went, would you do the challenge or just the half? Your answer could impact my running plan for the rest of this year, so please keep this in mind as you answer.

:-) I understand the gravity of the situation here, and let me state a few facts that may clarify. 1) I love Marvel...probably my favorite Disney owned IP, with the exception of Star Wars. 2) I live in Denver, just shy of a 2 hour flight, so the CA races are actually easier and quicker for us to get to. 3) The C2C medal is the 10th anniversary year, which is why I'm doing Superheroes again. In all honesty, coming from SC it might be a crap shoot, since there were so many issues with Tinkerbell that RunDisney may or may not be able to fix. Additionally, with the roll out of the Guardians ride and the upcoming Infinity War movie, I expect there will be quite a few more Superhero character stops: Cap, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Thor, plus Guardians Starlord, Gamora, and Groot.

I am very torn about this Disneyland race issue. Because I am so torn, booked a hotel for Super Heroes tonight. If Light Side dies or doesn't open up by October 1st, I will register for Super Heroes. If Light Side opens up, well then I will have to consider my options. My plan is totally riding on Super Heroes not filling up, but from prior finisher results it looks like it should stay open. Thanks for your perspective on this race!
