RuneScape: Zamorak, Lord of Chaos Cutscene.

The Zamorak/Saradomin dynamic has been quite interesting to me ever since they expanded upon it after the World Wakes. Back in the day it always seemed like they were the bad guy and the good guy, but in fact both are a blend of the characteristics of their traditional archetypes and have many shades of grey. I like the reversal of Zamorak being the 'freedom' fighter and Saradomin being the 'conqueror', but at the heart of their battle they fight over the mortal soul instead of territory or power. Those are just a means to an end.

Hence the quotation marks on freedom. I definitely would not want to be living in Zamorak's world. Gielinor's way better off for the restoration of the edicts.

Zamorak is a contradiction: He wants anarchy, but he also wants an Empire; he wants chaos, but the chaos creates strong people that inevitably cause his downfall.

Don’t think he wants an empire specifically, he wants to transform the world into pure chaos like Infernus, to do so, he must rule, he treats his godhood and authority like a “burden” that he must carry to safeguard chaos… he is also very calculating, opportunistic and cunning… he doesn’t care for the vision of the “strongest” like Bandos did, for him it’s all fair play, there are no rules as long as there is power… he is like a “surviving of the fittest” taken into extreme… the contradiction is that he wants freedom, but doesn’t give a choice to those that don’t want to submit themselves into chaos and destruction to become more powerful, survivalistic and ruthless… he wants everyone to be like the Mahjarrat
