what is the purpose to deduce L4? and is it important for any calculation?

It can be used to get the solution (value) of z , i.e, the value of dy/dx can be obtained using the value L4. dy/dx = z = z0 + (1/6)*(L1 + 2*L2 + 2*L3 +L4)

if we have to do a second iteration how would we do so? since we only have values for x1 and y1 how would we get the value z1 ?

hi, thank you for useful videos. I have a system of 2nd order odes. there are some complex numbers (with imaginary part) in the equations. I wonder if Runge kutta worked or not.

Do you even have to solve for L4? It is not used in the equation at all

Yes, in the video l4 seems to be unimportant as the starting to final point was calculated in one time step and not in several time steps. If you repeat the procedure a second time, you will see that you will need l4.

y'0 + (l1 + 2l2 + 2l3 +l4)/6 will be the starting slope or velocity for the following iteration.

why value of l4 was carried out? was it necessary?

l4 is necessary, since its needed to calculate the starting slope for next iteration step which is equally (l1+2l2+2l3+l4)/6.
