I totally agree with you about the hanged man card, and I am a Norse mythology buff. It's not only not Odin, but a guy doing a flip on skis🙄 I have no idea why they made such a terrible decision.

Love the deck! My favourite Card is The Tower and the imagery on that card decided for me😅About The hanged man - one meaning of that card is about not be in the right spot/place/position to engage in any action, the need and patience to wait some more and the card here depicts that aspect perfectly in my opinion

I agree that the Hanged Man should be Odin - it almost makes me question the concept of the whole deck. It is a beautiful deck though and I think it would help me to learn the runes.

I’m glad I’m not alone in my feelings about the Hanged Man. That was a pretty big disappointment for me but it is a beautiful deck. Having worked with it more I don’t think it is enough on its own for learning the runes but if you have another book or resource to pair it with it can be a nice additional resource. Many of the runes in the deck are actually bindrunes so it probably won’t be helpful to a beginner to runes. Make sure you read the guidebook.

If you want to learn the runes I would first look up some youtube channels on their history, intent and how they were used. Its a pretty murky subject and its best to get your footing on what you use them for and believe. Personally, I really enjoy picking runes for divination but know many of the meanings may be more modern interpretations.

As a Norse Pagan, I love this deck but there is so much to improve upon though. I wish the major arcana be label as the gods names with minor arcana horns not cups on the cards it makes it quite confusing. I agree Hanged Man to me should’ve been Odin it fits him better, death I don’t mind I actually love how Odin is portrayed but I wouldn’t mind switching him with another death god, like Hel or Holda for instance. I have a hard time with runecasting that’s why I love it. But certain cards are perfect, Loki being the devil, Frigg being Empress, etc. minor arcana is really great as well. I find it more masculine and darker which is really great I work with more male deities (also goddesses that are masculine).

I have this deck, it's amazing. Do you also have the deck 'Runes - The Gods Magical Alphabet' ? It has actual runes in it along with a big guidebook & a bag to hold your runes in. I've also been in & out with trying to learn more about runes. I'd love to see a video or some videos of learning the runes. I could even use my own sets &/or decks to follow along with you. I agree that Odin would have been a better choice for the Hanged Man. A Viking doing freestyle skiing? Really? Hel might have been a good/better choice for Death. That said, the Odin art on Death is incredible.

I can’t shuffle overhand; my hands are very small and the cards just fall all over the floor. People shuffle whatever way works best for them. You are not the Tarot pope and you don’t tell anyone else how to do anything. I have seen one person fling the cards in the air and catch whichever ones are to be read. So lay off.

People can shuffle their cards how they want to, it’s not that serious and many experienced practitioners poker shuffle including I. I cast my runes aggressively as well. If you don’t do it that’s fine, but don’t gatekeep how people shuffle. Besides shuffling overhand you can chip your cards as well it’s going to happen either way. It’s not disrespectful it’s one’s comfortable style of reading.

Not a great deck, too far removed from the traditional deck. The death card did not really work, I like the idea that death comes to all, whatever age. Rich or poor.

@@eyeofazure I don’t mind a deck having different artwork. The issue I have with some decks, are that they have no real meaning and look at bit flimsy in it content, or take out the depth of spirituality that the cards should show. For example I watched a video on DC comic Tarot. The chariot had the Flash, and that’s it. The traditional tarot shows a man holding the reigns, with two horses. Some cards show the horses looking in opposite directions. It’s meaning is the Charioteer needs to have a control over the two horses that want to take different directions. On a drawing level, it could of been drawn with the bat mobile with a head lamp of two horses on the front of the vehicle. It could of been drawn to show connecting symbols, have meaning. Sometimes I think some of these tarot decks are meaningless, designed to be fashionable or artsy. I really need content creators to call it out, instead of promoting rubbish. Also these cards that show just girl drawings, cut out the masculine energy that is in everything, everywhere. The spiritual does not see man or woman, it basically dresses up in these forms to give us a message. Unfortunately you still need a man to make babies, and like the charioteer you need purpose. The Flash, as a card, utter nonsense.

It is a white bear (regular bear in Europe but is white) not a polar bear which is a common symbol in northern mythology.
