i decide during my quarter-life crisis that i must take my puny little life and run away to the hidden villages of england with it to find the internal fulfillment i so desperately seek. or to the very crowded yet charming london i romantise like every other white girl in her twenties, or to the cold and rainy oxford, that i really wish i had studied harder for. and of course i must (try) vlog it.

Because this video in particular has somehow garnered a rather particular demographic of British individuals having a bit of a tussle w me, I feel like I finally have to make it clear I have nothing against the UK ‼️ I adore your country very much. I thought that was made clear but apparently my sarcasm/jokes/way of speaking has been interpreted quite the opposite. I loved my time visiting and have even considered relocating there! put your crumpets down

The is such a host of hidden gems in London to visit and not get ripped off as a tourist. It's so annoying for many of us Londoners to see how tourists get a raw deal from shops/venders at certain places in the city. Visiting Hatton Gardens during the lunch break is very busy but well worth the trip and you get to see/buy/want/dream about some of the gold/diamonds on display in the endless jewelry shops along there. Then jump in a cab for a quick ride to Upper Street Islington N1 for some great places to eat at reasonable prices compared to the tourist hot spots. Also,Green Lanes in Harringay offers such a host of restaurants/bakeries, Turkish, that knocks spots off some of the places to eat in the city, and it's only about a 30mn ride from Buckingham Palace. The list is endless 😉....

You can take the Uber ferry from Westminster to the Tower, which is just part of its many stops along its route. It's not expensive - the tourist boats with running commentary are more expensive.

Believe me, when the jet-stream flicks north, as it invariably will at some point even in this weirdly mild year so far, and it's touching 40C/100F, you will miss these 18C days so much. I've been around the world, and nowhere feels as uncomfortable when it's hot as England, simply because the lack of a/c means you can't escape the heat. Trying to sleep when it's 30C+ indoors is really unpleasant. Enjoy your time in England though.

@nihilistzero8066 Loads of times. Yes, the heat and humidity is worse, but you can escape it there. Buildings have a/c or have been designed to cope with the heat, with plenty of air flow, so as long as you aren't out in the sun, or walking around outside, it's not too bad. England doesn't offer that respite. Buildings are designed to keep the heat in, so you never get a break from the heat. There's no doubt that Japan or Cambodia feel far worse outside, due to the humidity, but you can avoid that heat far easier there too.

@@RevStickleback I lived in Australia, and do not like A/C. We managed the heat without it. It's made the stickier days back in the UK easy to deal with, using open windows etc. My house is stone, though and naturally cool in the heat. In Australia you go to the Mall for respite, not the beach because of sharks, or the waves being too big. Or shower in a sarong then wear it wet to cool off. Here you can be outside. I've slept in hammock outside as well. It's a good variety of weathers.

Economies are collapsing everywhere, by design. WWIII, we have been in it for years, you are currently a character in a movie, a wake the F up movie.....we are now nearing the climax quickly followed by the grand finale - spoiler alert : good wins 🙂 Only since they started the geoengineering, weather also by design! This too shall pass. Don't be in such a rush to move out, I did 20 years ago, now returning to UK. The 4 month very strict lockdown with military police on the streets that liked to bully, and not even allowed to go out for a walk, or walk a dog more than 50 metres from your front door, was an eye opener. Many people in flats with no outside space went stir crazy, one chap went crazy in the street, suddenly five police cars, they got out, attacked him with batons and when in the ground, kicked him.......at times like that, you realise that as a foreigner, you are on your own. Stay home and wait it out, it won't be long now.xx
