Hey colin it's Breconmafia, thanks for getting back to me! i did alright in the end, mixed up some lime putty and left it over night in water, then made the horse with muffle out of zinc , ran the first coats in bonding plaster (don't know if this is right but it bloody stuck like shit and worked) damped it down next day and ran coats with half lime putty and half casting plaster, then finished off with a really wet pure casting plaster coat , it came up lovely (it was only one wall)

Good god that cornice is huge. I'll be the corners took some time to do? I once did a 12ft square room, just 4 walls... no chimney breast... and I'd swear the corners took longer to form than running the 4 lengths. Looks well anyway.

And that is why it is more efficient to run it on a table and install with plaster and glue while cutting the mites before hand. Run inplace should be reserved for radius surfaces.

@@bynicholas12 Thanks for that! I didn't know. All the tips I can get will help! Can't afford a plasterer. Got to attempt it myself...

What I do as well..i use hydrocal to pour moulds and bench moulds. . and use lime and moulding plaster mix to run in place.
@Otherwiseknown798 жыл бұрын
***** lime adds workability with the plaster. If you use straight Plaster it will set up so fast you won't have time to work with it. Different ratios affect set times. 50/50 is normal ratio.

@@Otherwiseknown79 Wow! Thanks! I had no idea.lol. Planning on trying to make my own 'form' to run some in situ (rented flat with plain stud wall partitioning with Victorian coving to old walls). Now to find some lime...

Hi mate!!! Very impressive video, like it very much!! Have you done any boarding, skimming or perhaps both on the room, or ran them as you received the room in a finished state? Just wondering, keep it up mate!!!Cheers Ste

Good job . Don't see the point running the bay window on a bench and running the rest. Why not run a reverse and cast save the hassle.

+WuTangghost0007 when I was taught this in the dim and distant past I was taught to dot and screed the wall and ceiling where the cornice was run, this gave a perfectly level, plumb and straight area to apply the mould

true this mate, and they sayin' mitres take 1-1,5h each hahaha 6 days for one room... thats so british way... old style means old style but in my opinion casting on table and the fixing its about 4h for this room and and few hours casting so lets say one room one day and one man and no such waste of plaster. i run cornices only when some arches or rounded corners and when is just no point to take templates for casting. ...easy. ps. 1-1,5h on mitre?!! omg, thats just one mix each lads, come on...
