Last week was supposed to be a recovery week, but I ended up doing a 22km long run with more ascent then I'm used to. So, I was a bit nervous going into this run, I really wasn't sure how I'd get on. The hope was that I could at least do as long as my previous long run, 24km and ideally a bit longer.
After 4 or 5km I was starting to get a bit of pain on my left shin, an unusual spot for me, but I gave it a bit of a massage and it eased off, I kept going but suspected I was going to have to turn back.
I was really pleased that the pain didn't come back and I was able to keep going, and I still felt pretty strong by the end!
25.5km done!
My hope is that I can add 2km on next weekend and then 2.5km the weekend after, taking me up to 30km in February and then it'll be my recovery week. I'll be genuinely delighted if I can do it and don't have any serious pain.
I can then look forward to not adding any distance on the long run, and hopefully it starts to feel a bit easier. I can then also add in an additional running session through the week, which should really see my fitness taking a big step up.
Onwards and upwards!
