thats not what the sound barrier is, the sound barrier breaks once an object travels at the speed of sound, now, you dont hear it, infact you cant hear anything once the speed is achieved (correct me if im wrong), but it produces a sonic boom, a big puff of air and a eardrum rupturing sound, as if a rift in the air got pierced..cause it did
